It's an elderly plot, all right, but Mr. Garfield is young; he will live it down.1939 is regarded as one of Hollywood's greatest years but it does not begin auspiciously. I never heard of this one until I saw the review. It's Netflix availability rating has moved from "very long wait" to "long wait." So maybe I will see it before 1940.

Check out “Confessions of an American Nazi” that was put out in 1939. About half way thru, there is an exchange between the spy and his handler that the liberals must of used in their training films. The handler was explaining how the Nazi's would take over the U.S. without violence by infiltrating the press, education and labor. Sound familiar?

Check out Confessions of an American Nazi that was put out in 1939. I've got "Confessions of a Nazi Spy," premiering May 6. Is that the same movie? It will be interesting to see how The Times sees it.
I guess the plan you quoted is the standard destroy-from-within formula. It is in an advanced stage here. I hope it is not too late for a reversal.

John Garfield was a cool guy. He went to school with my sister. Rumor has it he died in the saddle.
