One of President Barack Obama's first acts Tuesday was to put the brakes on all pending regulations that the Bush administration tried to push through in its waning days.
The order went out shortly after Obama was inaugurated president, in a memorandum signed by new White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. Huge? Bleedin’ obvious, more like. Why anyone thinks this is surprising news in the least is more surprising to me.
Most retiring presidents have pushed through last minute regulations that often work against the policies of the incoming president — Clinton did the same thing and, I believe, Bush stopped many of his last minute changes in regulation too.
This is all part of the usual transition of power fun and games, and is to be expected, no matter what the rhetoric being thrown around.
Calm down. This is typical for all incoming Presidents. Bush did it as well.
