A host of celebrities joined Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore to air their 2009 New Year's resolutions and pledges to the new U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday.
Stars like Eva Mendes, Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson, Courteney Cox, Eva Longoria Parker all agreed to make pledges on camera for a new MySpace.com campaign backed by Kutcher.
Inspired by the new President, in the video Simpson pledged to be "a great mother," Mendes offered to "volunteer more of my time to help children battling serious illnesses," and Longoria Parker promised to "plant 500 trees this year to help our planet."
Kutcher, who himself pledged on camera to "always represent my country with pride, dignity and honesty," says, "We are honoured to be working with MySpace to rally the entertainment industry to answer President-elect Barack Obama.s call to service.
"The Presidential Pledge is a platform for people across the nation and throughout the world to make a first-person commitment of service to our new President, articulating a specific intent or action to become an agent of positive change."
And his wife Moore, who produced and directed the MySpace.com video, perhaps took on the biggest pledge of all when she stood before the camera and stated, "I pledge to free one million people from slavery in the next five years."

Wow. You posted an excellent, reasonable and thoughtful post that wasn't vile nor "abusive" toward Obama, and they took it down and basically banned you for that? Just wow.
She’s going to free one millions slaves? Is she talking about the people who do her nails? Who take care of her mansions? Who the hell is she going to free? What is she talking about?

I pledge not to watch any of your movies, TV shows or buy products that any of you hypocrites sponser.
Meanwhile you will spend more on plastic surgery, flying in your private jets, and upkeep for your multiple homes than the average person earns in their entire life.
Incidentally, GWB freed 28 million in Iraq and 33 million in Afghanistan.
This means I am for the free market, for legal immigration policy and control of our borders, for a strong defense and ready use of the same against the enemies of this nation, for traditional marriage, for life, for strict consitutionalism, for the second amendment and the arming of any and all law abiding citizens, for fair trade that protects American interests, for individual effort, for the free market and indivudal right incentives that inspire the workers and inventors and entreprenuers of this nation, for recognizing God in Heaven as the supreme grantor and arbitrator of our unalienable rights, and in short for all of those foundational principles upon which this nation has been built and upon which she has prospered.
It also means I am against abortion, against illegal immigration, against judicial activism, against attacks on traditional marriage, aagainst non-free market bailouts in all their varieties and forms, against gun control, against character damaging and incentive destroying social welfare and handouts in all their forms, against the so-=called global "free-trade" which is damaging American independence and soveriegnty, against marxist dogma and doctruine, against socialism...in short against those things that destroy the free market and liberty, and the moral principles upon which it stands.
This is my pledge...and I will stand it against the pledges Obama and his ilk are looking for like a shining city on a hill in the gathering dark.
Why only 1 million? Isn’t Obama the new Lincoln? Shouldn’t the liberals free all the slaves?
I pledge to never watch Ashton Kutcher’s “acting” in any form.

1 million sounds good but she should first work to free ONE slave and let us know the story of how Citizen X became a slave in the modern world, where Citizen X originated from, and what Mrs. Kutcher-Willis-Moore did to free Citizen X.
If this keeps them from making more bad art I will support them in their endeavors.
