A host of celebrities joined Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore to air their 2009 New Year's resolutions and pledges to the new U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday.
Stars like Eva Mendes, Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson, Courteney Cox, Eva Longoria Parker all agreed to make pledges on camera for a new MySpace.com campaign backed by Kutcher.
Inspired by the new President, in the video Simpson pledged to be "a great mother," Mendes offered to "volunteer more of my time to help children battling serious illnesses," and Longoria Parker promised to "plant 500 trees this year to help our planet."
Kutcher, who himself pledged on camera to "always represent my country with pride, dignity and honesty," says, "We are honoured to be working with MySpace to rally the entertainment industry to answer President-elect Barack Obama.s call to service.
"The Presidential Pledge is a platform for people across the nation and throughout the world to make a first-person commitment of service to our new President, articulating a specific intent or action to become an agent of positive change."
And his wife Moore, who produced and directed the MySpace.com video, perhaps took on the biggest pledge of all when she stood before the camera and stated, "I pledge to free one million people from slavery in the next five years."
These people were pathological in their hatred for Bush, and they are pathological in their support of Obama. Gird your loins, folks, it’s going to be a rough four years.
I pledge to serve myself up some soda.
Now when do I get my free “I donated my brain to Obama” t-shirt? I’m only pledging service if I get free stuff.

And pledging to be a great mother? Isnt that supposed to be a given?

I pledge to clean up after myself when I puke reading stories like this one.
I posted a comment on their myspace page yesterday it was lengthy but basically asking if they were promoting unity and community service during the last 8 years. If they had ever volunteered to help military families, wounded soldiers, built parks, volunteered at after school programs during the Bush administration, and what compelled them now to want to promote these things? They removed my comments and eventually blocked me from posting when I repeatedly ask for my comments to be put back up. Censorship at it’s finest. They believe in free speech as long as the speech agrees with them.
It seems that some Americans would rather pledge their service to a false idol, OBAMA, than to Jesus. He IS an anti-Christ. A deceiver who leads the flock astray.

What a load of crap. Ashlee Simpson’s, “I’m going to be a good mother” pledge reminds me of Chris Rock’s bit about African American fathers, your supposed to be a good mother you idiot, what do you want, recognition for doing something your SUPPOSED to be doing.
They believe in agitprop and stalinism. Same as in the 1940s.
Yeah, Ashton, only as long as a 'RAT president is in the White House and a 'RAT majority in Congress, right?

Good grief. I think we FReepers had better pledge to do everything we can to ensure that President B. Hussein Obama is voted out of office in four years...
