Different timing, different positioning on the field, different score. When you’re up 21-6 with 90 seconds left you don’t do a risky play that might give the other team the ball at your 30 or worse, if you give them any points you also give them confidence. When you’re up 14-6 with half a quarter or so left in the half there’s nothing wrong with a risky play that at worst gives them the ball at their 40, you’ve already proven you can stop them from there.

They always “cheer” for whoever is losing, blow outs are bad for ratings, presenting ways the losing team can get back in it hopefully keeps people from changing the channel.
