I have been a Bucs fan since 1976. I loved Gruden’s style at Oakland although I disliked the Raiders. When he came to Tampa I knew there would be magic.

He wants to win and you can’t blame him for the record DESPITE the continual injuries and trades. All Tampa knew was Dungy-ball. And to be fair to Tampa, if they had Manning as their QB with the defense healthy all these years, we’d be talking the Gruden dynasty. Dungy could never get over the top but Gruden could.

In any event, very stupid move on TB’s part.

I have this feeling the Glazers are preparing to wave a HUGE amount of money in front of one Bill Cowher. Cowher recently publicly said he won't coach an NFL team in 2009 but with more and more jobs opening that could change overnight.

Jason Garrett... I hate the Dullus Cowgirlz (and their dingle berry owner Jerry Jones)... Garrett should stay with the Girlz so they’d continue to stink.. the Rams get Garrett as head coach... he’d make the Rams stink more than before.

“That’s bullsh!t. Dungy had 3 tries and failed”

So in ONE year, Gruden drafted, revamped both offense and defense, and changed all the schemes and plays to go on and win the SB????? Ha Ha. Is this April’s Fools Day? Gruden is a bad coach. He got run out of the Raiders and failed to accomplish anything on his own with his own people.

“LOL! And, I would add with the Raider’s playbook, as well.”

Well, if it was the Raider’s playbook, why didn’t it work for the Raiders? Because he is a bad coach and it only worked in Tampa because HE HAD BETTER PLAYERS THANKS TO DUNGY.

The team Gruden got had a respectable defense. All were double-digit veterans that were on the verge of retirement.

What you forget is that Gruden left the very team he defeated in the SB. By your logic, Chucky is credited unofficially with two appearances and one victory, one more than Dingy had.

Dingy is one of the most overrated coaches ever. He patched a defense and managed to defeat a team in the SB that was missing their key defensive lineman, and only managed to squeak by. It took him years to do it.

The Bucs, on the other hand, clobbered the Raiders.

Chucky is a far better coach. Far better.

Early speculation seems to be that Raheem Morris is the leading candidate for HC...these firings are very shocking (Shanahan, Gruden) So many coaches are getting the ax.

“Tampa fired the coach that turned a perennial loser into a perennial playoff team.”

Yeah but the vindication and revenge came with his record of successes at his next post.

Well, if it was the Raider’s playbook, why didn’t it work for the Raiders?

Probably because the Raiders only had one playbook- their own; and Callahan didn't bother to change it. The Bucs, on the other hand, had a pretty good idea of what the Traitors...er... I mean the Raiders were up to- thanks to Chuckie.

Now, don't misunderstand me. Dungy was a helluva coach, and he built a very good team. However, The known idiot Al Davis took a chance that Tampa Bay wouldn't make the big game when he sold them Gruden. Al was wrong and Glazer was right.

Amen!

I wish him no harm or bad luck, but I’m not sad to see him move along.

re: perennial playoff team

Like this year when all they had to do was win one of their remaining three games?

I think he fell prey to the “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride” syndrom.

Come on!! Bucs collapse this year at the end was patghetic..awful...and those losses have to be blamed on the coach. ONE win in the last I think..got them in the playoffs..

Do I dare suggest that maybe just maybe Tony Dungy might be interested.
