Theyre rich, theyre famous and theyre better than you are. Why? Because theyre famous, and that means theyre entitled to it.
Meritocracy is the fundamental difference between a functional free nation and a society of elite classes that dont work, dont accomplish anything useful-- but nevertheless rule. Meritocracy insures a system where those who can do, do. Systems of entitlement insure that those who have no useful skills or abilities tell others what to do, or collect money from them.
And that is what we truly mean when we say Free Country, not a country without laws, but a country without limits to personal accomplishment. (A concept now nearly incomprehensible to generations weighed down by a sense of entitlement).
Celebrity however is the democratization of monarchy making it seemingly accessible to everyone. It creates an elite powerful class that has no useful skills, produces nothing but styles and trends, much as the original nobility did. It is a leisure class, famous for being famous, entitled by virtue of some quirk of personal magnetism or appearance or fractional talent, to subvert the democratic process and replace the voices of many, with one voice.

Steroids did far more for some sports stars than training ever did.
Speaking of that ad, I’m surprised they didn’t represent the Mac with a sassy black woman. Would’ve been too obvious, I guess!
For some actresses, it isn’t just their “skills” that are “fake”. Nose, cheeks, breasts, hair color.
“We have the technology, we can rebuild...”
Why not? They are pretty, they speak well (when someone gives them their lines) and they appear wealthy.
But, they are toothless when it comes to impacting just about anything.
I’ve met actors of the screen and stage. I’ve met really, really rich and powerful leaders of corporations.
Real power and wealth are calm, private, and behind the scenes. If you have ever met someone with REAL money and power, it is intimidating. There is a cold as steel aspect to those people. Not that they aren’t nice people, but there is something about them....
Brad Pitt and George Clooney are not intimidating. On the other hand, Henry Kissinger castrates you with his eyes if you are not up to “being in the same room” with him. (Note I did not say, his equal...in their eyes there are no equals.)
Hmmm ... so Tiger Woods has useless fake skills. He sure must be good at fooling people to make all that money.
Y'all are sounding like liberal academics grousing that markets don't appreciate their invaluable contributions to society because professional atheletes make far more than they do, so we need to get rid of markets.

Last I checked, Lindsey Lohan is a washed-up has-been. That's what happens when you stop busting your butt.
It’s the POLITICAL RULING CLASS as well!
“People get the government they deserve” Joseph D’Maistre
Gang, we HAD a shot at cleaning these places out this last election and, to borrow a phrase from the klintoon White House, WE BLEW IT!!!
While I, like many of you, am saddened that McCain and Palin couldnt keep the Marxist Obamessiah out of the White House, lets try to keep things in some kind of rational perspective: ACORN elected a president and vice-president, NOT a monarch.
For years, Ive been amazed at this idiotic quadrennial fascination with the beauty contest known as the (cue the trumpet fanfare) PRESIDENTIAL RACE. Our inattention and/or apparent desire for a king or a strong man dictatorship has allowed our system to morph to the present quasi-monarchy from its original foundations as a representative REPUBLIC.
People, the most important thing we can remember about all of this is that the Founders constructed the system to put AND KEEP — the KEYS TO THE FEDERAL CASH REGISTER ARE IN CONGRESS and current Gang of 535 could bring this out-of-control government spending and the steady usurpation of our freedoms to a screeching halt tomorrow at noon — IF they wanted to. Attila the Hun could occupy the White House and without the dough to hire the bureaucrats, buy the desks and computers, etc., etc. ad nauseum, Mr. Hun would be hamstrung. (See Article 1, Section 7 of the now largely moribund Constitution for details.)
But they DON’T — for a number of reasons: (And I cite the tax situation as but one example of the problem. Dont get me started on the ENERGY thing!)
1. They understand the need to vacuum the excess FRAUDS (Federal Reserve Accounting Unit Denominators) — there are no “dollars” circulating now! — out of circulation BEFORE the bulk of the dumb masses (say it really fast for maximum effect) catch on to the resultant inflation. If you question that statement, ask yourself why else would a criminal enterprise (the federal government) having the power to “create” “money” with the stroke of a pen NEED YOURS every April 15th?
2. The current Gang of 535 understands the need for the massive tax code (so-called because it is written in code by gnomes chained to posts in the cellars of K Street lobbying firms and understood only by their keepers) to reward their friends, punish their enemies and keep the rest of us under their thumbs with threats of draconian punishments should we run afoul of it. It is impossible to NOT run afoul of it.
3. While the dumb masses rant about the abusive practices of this top criminal enterprise’s subsidiary criminal enterprise (the IRS), members of the Gang can pose and posture for the cameras from time to time and declare that “something MUST be done to reign in the abuses of the IRS,” NOTHING WILL BE DONE until we clean house on Capitol Hill and get back to the HONEST, CONSTITUTIONAL MONEY called for at Art.1, Sect. 10. Theyve been playing a rigged game of 3 card-Monte with us for so long and getting away with it that, as Herman Cains book title declares They Think Youre STUPID. And, hell, for MOST of the dumb masses, theyre right.
And THAT process starts in YOUR STATE and CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT by finding and supporting decent candidates — at ALL levels — who will go to YOUR state capitol and Malfunction Junction and do that house cleaning. Not marching on Washington...not sending “money” to the RNC (LOL!)...not writing poison pen letters to these current jerks...but THROWING OUT THE CURRENT JERKS and doing it as many times as necessary to get it done.
A good news in the viability of this approach is that the controlled so-called national mainstream media have far less impact on these widely separated congressional races making it easier to get some good guys elected.
The bad news is that I can speak from personal experience about how the national PARTIES will survey all the contested congressional races and if they DO find a candidate they do not or think they cannot control running on their side, they’ll offer a “consultant” from headquarters to come in and ASSIST the campaign. In at least 4 cases with which I am familiar, the Republican National Committee TORPEDOED those campaigns so a good guy who might be more incined to harken to the Constitution before toeing the party line didn’t make it to D.C.
And for you who, like a sad number of the dumb masses, THINK YOUR GUY IS OK, go to THROWTHEMOUT at

for your guys voting record on taxes, spending or your personal hot button issues. You might be in for an unpleasant surprise.
I often get the strong sense that the American people have some sick and sophomoric yearning for a new ROYAL FAMILY or BENEVOLENT KING to make their lives what they themselves feel incapable of making them without some nanny-state sovereign. Throughout history, with few exceptions conspicuous because of their rarity, those systems nearly always become malignant and freedom founders and eventually fails. With the exception of America the IDEA, not the place most men who have walked the earth have lived as slaves.
As opportunities afford themselves (and this is one), I simply attempt to remind my fellow citizens of that history and what lies ahead if they continue in their ignorance of that history.
I could go on for volumes but you get the idea.
One final thought: With the exception of the guys who pass muster at THROWTHEMOUT, RE-ELECT NOBODY!!!!!
Standing by for a record breaking flaming by the fanatics.

Oh please.
I still say they don’t have it nearly as bad as the fledgling actors had it years ago. Besides, anything having to do with profanity or nudity passes as acting skill nowadays.
Mass media has enabled a small number of entertainers to reach millions — with huge economies of scale. These fortunate few are paid hundreds, or thousands of times more than they would have received prior to electronic media. They aren't that much more talented than the millions of professional entertainers working at scale, or amateurs (whether in the arts, or in sports) who do the same thing for the shear pleasure of it.
Most actors and athletes are very, very good at what they have been trained to do and some of them make wonderful salesmen and can turn themselves into terrific motivational speakers over time, but their intellectual achievements are generally limited. Yes, there are smart athletes and actors, but they are the exception rather than the rule.
I have known some very smart actors, but they went to Hollywood and ended up doing something else because it is so tough to get an acting job. In some cases they end up earning more than actors and have a lifelong career.
Acting, and the marketing job that is required to work consistently is a talent, unexplained by how tough they work to get the job. Athletes also have that same type of talent, one that is not explained by hard work. In neither case does this talent equate with intellectual capabilities.

You’re right. I’m not familiar with the training schedule of athletes nowadays, and many of them are indeed talented and hard-working.All i’m saying is that they’re coddled and babied, many of them overpaid and overhyped. As for the actors, anybody on crack can perform as well as some of these so-called “artists” nowadays. Why do you think the movie industry is doing so badly? If you can strip, bleed, swear,or hate conservatives(and be loudly vocal about it)you’ve made it in Hollywood. True talent have very little to do with it.
Again,JMHO....
The world is awash with nearly-worthless intellectuals.
Her last movie was an absolute disaster. Having a modelling career is quite a step down from being a lead actress. So, yeah, 'has-been' fits here.

"She's got the bones of a flamingo and the spirit of a gladiator. And I agreed to do this interview because I was curious how young celebs in the 21st century (the last gasp of the patriarchies) are replaying the roles of gods and goddesses of classical times, as figures to both live through and learn from.
"Oh, and also, how do these kids think they'll make it down the Hollywood-game trail in the dark, surrounded by poisonous bushmasters and seven-foot tiger leeches on both sides of the path? A legendary director-performer, who has worked onstage and in film with more of the great gifted than I've even met, told me this of such serious fame: "No one escapes. No one gets out alive." Meaning without being driven crazy by pop saturation or isolation and exile.
"It's counterproductive to eat our young, and this one has been on time and camera-ready for most of her 22 years. ..."
Lindsay Lohan By Lauren Hutton, 02/09
So tell us again how her movies have done lately. Whether she is 'hot' or not is secondary to the fact that her acting career has cratered as she has gotten out of control with drugs or alcohol or whatever she is doing.
"... celebs in the 21st century (the last gasp of the patriarchies) are replaying the roles of gods and goddesses of classical times, as figures to both live through and learn from"
And my discussion point has moved to whether or not you have to bust your butt to get to the top of the game in acting and sports. Lohan got out of control with her substance and behavior problems, and that is reflected in her acting career cratering. She still has residual celebrity, but more out of morbid fascination of watching the aftermath of a crash on the Autobahn...
