In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
audacious \aw-DAY-shus\ adjective
1. daring, bold
2. insolent
3. marked by originality and verve *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
The band has been making original and creative music for well over ten years, but their latest album is by far their most audacious to date.
Did you know?
Shakespeare used "audacious" seven times in his plays. That in itself wasn't exactly an act of bold originality. The word, which comes from the Latin root "audac-" ("bold"), had been around for decades. But the Bard was the first to use "audacious" in its "insolent" sense ("Obey, audacious traitor; kneel for grace," Henry VI Part 2), and he may have been the first to use the adverb "audaciously." "Audacious" itself was something of an innovation in the 16th century: it was one of the earliest "-acious" words in English. Subsequently, we've added lots of "-acious" adjectives to our lexicon, including "pugnacious," "loquacious," "voracious," and even, in the 19th century, "bodacious" (which is most likely a combination of "bold" and "audacious").
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

i have a christmas cactus on the kitchen windowsill that bloomed for the first time in years just this week. have no idea how that came to be, since i googled christmas cactus and saw that you were supposed to do all this stuff to it to get it to bloom. i did nothing other than water it every once in awhile. my violets on the same windowsill routinely flower as well.
No, he never was a lap cat. If anything a cat would grow into laps, not out of them. As they get older, more sedate and less hot blooded.
I was looking for the ski jackets to keep the snow off their coats while they romped in the white stuff
i saw those in our walmart yesterday.
I didn’t pick out either dog......both left by the ti/daughter....it’s the snow that clings to the bischon’s fur that is most annoying as she races through the house dropping clumps of it.
I think I will try their website...
this is a ski jacket and they have it at the Vestal walmart, i just checked for ya.
LOL...that WAS their website you linked me to?
I can just imagine. I’ve been lucky in that there has been enough waterdog in the coats of my chow mixes that the rare snow we do gets does not clump up like that.
yes it was, i thought you missed the quilted ones, though, and thought they just had fleece. there is the pink glamour dog one and a plain black quilted on that site.
hot dog! maybe Missy will actually go out.......she did not deem it warm enough to relieve herself on her last outing and she has had lunch since...is sleeping right now. she will wake up and if I am not fast enough will relieve herself inside...it’s only 14 degrees out today. it’s even cold inside the house.
Missy is the girly dog who needs it....Peanut, no girly in that dog...she would sooner die than don it.
i know how that goes!
I saw an ad for a Yorkie that claimed it was litterbox trained. I am convinced that shih tzus are cats in dog suits. Maybe y’all should try a new technique with your dogs, for inclement weather days.
the garage is our litterbox for inclement days! the hockey bag stink will mask any odor and i do clean up after them in there!
That’s my dad’s dog, I mean cat in a dog suit.
i love all dogs, they have different personalities and fun things about them! it occurs to me that i saw a sign at petsmart yesterday advertising for dog washers/groomers etc. i have seen more than one help wanted sign lately, which surprised me with the unemployment stats growing.
