Wal-mart Ammo Stock Dwindling
self

Posted on 01/12/2009 8:04:08 PM PST by George from New England

Wal-mart Ammo Stock is not being replenished from their warehouse. Is seems that corporate Wal-mart does not want to have it's warehouse stocked with new ammunition merchandise after Obama takes office. If Obama issues an executive order halting, restricting, or banning ammo sales, wal-mart and other retailers maybe left with stock they cannot sell at retail or return to their supplier.

Newsflash!
It ain’t just Walmart running low!

Spoke with dealers in the Northwest doing 8 months of typical volume in 1 month.

Shelves in Colorado only have less popular rounds like 10mm.

Obama may issue an executive order but it must be backed up by the Constitution or Congress. I see nothing he could hang such an EO on and make it stick. If there is no ammo it is because people are in a panic and buying like crazy. I have serious doubts as to whether Obama would even be so stupid as to issue such an order. It won’t happen, but I sure wish it would. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot.

You have this from what source?

Obama does not have the power to and will not ban guns. Anybody buying tons of guns and ammo should add some large amounts of tinfoil.

BTW, you want its, not it’s.

They should call it “obammo”.

I'm sure that's what some folks said right before clintoon's AWB.

i just bought 1000 rounds of 9mm at a sports store here in Texas on SALE for 10$ a box it was Remmington. I bought a new gun and needed a supply for going to the range. I go about every 2 weeks more often with a new gun

Don’t panic..

Also, the local store had 12 gauge 870s on sale for 299! (50$ off normal price)

I still have ammo I bought from back in clintons day. I think the political price of banning ammo sales will be too great for the dems to bear; especially in a worsening state of affairs from his leadership and whacky policy.

...I was in my local Walmart yesterday for some duck loads....all they had left was a couple boxes of 3.5 inch goose loads....clerk said “they didn’t send us much this year and there won’t be any more.”...and this is in North Carolina; a big hunting state....FWIW

Suddenly, I’m no longer the crazy one for buying an AR-15 on Nov. 7.

I bet it has more to do with Bentonvilles Insane and highly Annoying just in time shipments. The stores in general on all items are not well stocked and little of this and that is kept on hand. This would be as much true with ammo as it would be any other item.

About two years ago in case you didn't notice it Wally World closed down layaway. But they also removed one entire shelf store wide. Meaning one shelf level gone on almost every aisle. That in turn means less items on each shelf. It's one of their so called cost cutting measures by eliminating inventory in all stores stock rooms nationwide.

What the powers that be at Wally World Corp still can not seem to understand is the fact that if they don't have an item on the shelf then they can't sell it. While shopping I have seen a lot of angry people shopping in Wally World hunting for what should be werll stocked high volume sales items items they either move weekly or run out of on almost a daily basis till another truck arrives. The truck which may be that night or nest week with that item.

I was at a Wal-Mart in Geneva, Alabama this morning. I wasn’t specifically looking for ammo but did glance at the stock and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Maybe there was less than usual, if so not so much that it was noticeable.

Where did you get this info from? I have friends who work for Remington Arms Ammunition plant in Lonoke, AR and I haven’t heard anything about cuts to WalMart’s orders...

I noticed you have no source linked... so help us to be able to have some confidence in your claims.

Ammo sales are up... period. This has been going on for several months now and the economic downturn has not hurt those sales one bit.

Add too that the high metal component costs the last couple of years - and retailers are not sure they want to jump on higher-priced ammo that might be coming down in the near future due to material costs coming down.

Then again, you go back to the demand - and old “supply and demand” pricing kicks in.

Was at Gander Mountain a couple of weeks ago - a woman was there buying handgun ammo - .380. I couldn’t believe the price the guy gave her... The “good” stuff was over $40 per box! The cheap stuff was like $27...

There are a lot of good gun dealers but there are also a lot of ones who think everything they have is gold and everything you want to trade is trash.

When the first assault ban hit, I was sitting pretty in a way. I had three Colt H-Bars new in the box with the .22 conversion kit included. I also had numerous HK-91. SL-6, AK’s of several descriptions including the highly sought after Poly Tech.

I had just started Grad school and money was tight. I would go to a gun show where dealers were trying to get $2500 for well worn AR-15, and 1500 for ordinary AK’s. These same dealers would not pay me what had been the wholesale price of my guns before the ban. I was pretty desperate for cash and ended up selling one H-Bar for $600 to Gulf Breeze Pistol Parlor. They immediately marked it at $3000.

I ended up selling almost all of them to fellow students. Dealers who were trying to get $100 or more for ordinary Glock Hi-cap mags would not give me $20 for mine. I had several Smith & Wesson stainless steel 15 round mags brand new and simply couldn’t sell them. I still have them. I did sell one to an individual.

Dealers were simply using the situation to gouge the public. I still haven’t forgiven many of them.

At the Walmart outside of town near the rural areas they were all out of .308 after hunting season (checked 3x in 4 weeks and sounded like they hadn’t had a shipment in).

After the third time I went to the Walmart in the “hood”. Not a whole bunch there, but I got like 10 boxes and there were 10 - 20 left.

You’re correct. He has no idea. His “clinging” statement about W. Penn. summed this blowhard up for me. I seriously doubt he’ll have the political clout to try anything alone.

Not so sure about congress however....They might try to pass something that he’ll be “forced” to sign in exchange for something Nancy et. al. wants. We’ll see....

Still, BLOAT isn’t a bad idea....

Was at a Walmart in Paulsbo, Washington. All pistol ammo gone. Some .22 but only one box of 7mm and .300Winmag - I bought the last box of .30 carbine and 30-30 for my dad. The guy at the counter said he’s not expecting anything from the warehouse anytime soon. Plenty of trap shells though.
