Sarah Palin Bags on Tina Fey, Katie Couric
E-Online ^ | 1-9-09 | Gina Serpe

You mess with the grizzly, you get the claws.

In new interview footage of Sarah Palin released on YouTube this week, the Alaska governor gets not only folksy but downright forceful in unleashing her opinions on the two women most responsible for molding her less-than-flattering public persona, calling out both Katie "What newspapers do you read?" Couric and doppelgänger extraordinaire Tina Fey.

Check out video of Sarah Palin's interview.....

"get lost, you washed up anti Bush DUmmie troll."

Good grief. I love George Bush. But the fact of the matter is that his inability to communicate effectively is one of the reasons the GOP brand has been so badly damaged the last eight years. I'm sorry if that offends you.

He found it impossible to defend his own (and I believe justified actions) with respect to Presidential powers and the war on terror. His handling of Katrina was pathetic - not the actual management of the disaster but again, his ability to project confidence and control in a time when the nation and a region needed it the most.

George Bush himself has stated he wished had had better, more effective communication skills.

Definitely leave Huckabee out. I don’t know much about him but what I know, none of it is good.

“And as for Palin speaking like most Americans, we are saying goodbye to a President who speaks just like most Americans. No Thanks! I’m comfortable asking just a little bit more from the President of the United States.”

So President Bush screwed up at times. Big freakin’ deal.
Now we’re getting a President who speaks well (with a teleprompter) and says absolutely nothing. This is better than a President who screwed up a few words, or had a Texan twang?

The next 4 and most likely 8 years, we can all admire how “articulate” President Barack Hussein Obama is while he says absolutely nothing of substance.

I think Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar too? He attended Oxford if I recall. Not that it did him any good since he was a major screw up.

The only poll I found that had 65% in it was the rounded percentage of Republicans who want her to run in 2012.

"I think Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar too?"

He was a Rhodes Scholar, but he didn't graduate. Jihndal did. And, from what I understand he was the cream of the crop. Jihndal is the real deal. My guess is he recognizes that the current political landscape won't allow for a GOP victory in 2012 and will hold his fire until 2016.

Romney on the other hand, won't have much of a choice. Because of his age, it's probably 2012 or nothing for him.

I don’t think you’re an Obama troll. Then again, it’s not my area of expertise and I’d probably miss it even if one bit me.

I like Palin. 4 years is a long time. The media hates her which says to me they’re scared of her. Part of me wishes she just gives it all up and live her life. Another part of me hopes she sticks it out because we need people like her.

Jindal has no charisma. And - say what you will - charisma counts for a LOT now-a-days, since the election of JFK.

Palin, Reagan, Clinton, Obama, Bush...love them or hate them, one big reason they won was because they were more “charismatic” than their opponents.

Thanks. Didn’t realize he didn’t graduate.

Again, 4 years is a long time, much can happen. Right now, I see Obama as an 8 year President, unless he screws up really badly or more than half the American people wake up. Since he’s such a “historic” President, he’ll get a pass on everything, imo. And the American people aren’t close to waking up yet. It’s going to be an interesting 4 years.

I see your point about 2012.

"Jindal has no charisma

This is the best point you've made tonight (humor implied). Charisma does count. And, Jihndal is lacking in the charisma department. For that matter, so is Romney and Sanford.

Look, when Palin gave that first speech in Dayton, my parents were there. They were absolutely jazzed, as was I. No one was rooting more for her than I was going into the convention. And she delivered. That speech was masterful. And, contrary to popular opinion, no matter who writes the speech, it's the delivery that's the hard part. But (there's always a butt), her extemporaneous performances were painful.

Charisma is important. In today's pop-culture world, charisma maybe all that matters. I would add that Obama's rise surprised precisely because I don't see his charisma. In fact, I think he's the least charismatic candidate the Dems put forward since Dukakis. Obama has no sense of humor, except to take an occasional jab at someone else. He is never self-deprecating. All of Barry's charisma is manufactured; by the media, by his internet presence and by his (sorry to say) color.

It's going to be an interesting four years. My only hope is that Obama's narcissism will be revealed as the shine wears off our new Presidential penny.

John McCain was tied for last place in my Dancing With The Candidates dance card with Ron Paul just back from an alien abduction looking for lost time under seat cushions.

Charlie Hubris was an interview selected by a moron or a sado-masochist or in the case of McCain I repeat myself.

Sarah Palin gave the ticket the adrenalin in the heart muscle, both paddles, a B-12 shot, and a ride in the rocket sled.

Without her McCain would have been wiped in 50 states.

She's herself and that's so not enough to offset the Six Hundred Million Dollar Islamo-Commie from Kenya with the Trillion-Dollar Media Fairy Kiss.

It was time for the melt in your mouth metrosexual and after he falls on his gluteus and tires us beyond all bearing blaming Bush Bush this Bush that et cetera et cetera et cetera we will be casting about.

Sarah is like butter and Katie Couric is less a woman than a cross between an enema and paint remover.

We're looking at four years of eating crap while the ten thousand shrieking drooling gargoyles of pterodactyl dot com give us their best rictus grin demanding are you not loving it loving it loving it.

What got Carter was the double whammy of the economy in the toilet and our embassy in Tehran perpwalked every night on the telly.

The Agony of Hussein is coming.

Sarah should stay up there with her eighty per cent.

The View?

As Roseanne Barr calls Israel "nazis"--

The Red Queen is talking backwards.

Joe Biden is using her speech, denying the IRGC is a terrorist organization.

Party like it's 1938.

^^^^^^^^^^Palin blew it. Even during her debate she couldn’t even answer the questions she was asked, instead going off on a tangent.^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It's incredibly unwise to directly answer gotcha questions. Once you answer that first one, and start walking the false path, the media has already won.

^^^^^^^^^^^No they're not. They were at the very beginning, but they're not anymore. You cannot have the interview performances that Palin had with Gibson and Couric and expect to be VPOTUS.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yes, the media are afraid of her. If they weren't, they wouldn't have done this:

Sixty five percent of the country simply believes whatever the media tells them to believe.

If that were the case, we would never have had a Republican President since Dwight Eisenhower.

Before John McCain ever picked Sarah Palin as his VP choice and the media had ever bothered to write a single article about her, I had a discussion with a friend in regards to the names that were being floated as a possible VP choice. I mentioned Sarah Palin and I also mentioned that I thought that, in my opinion at the time, her inclusion as a possible choice was being bantered about simply to pander to women voters as Palin was the Governor of a state with a minuscule population that had been Governor for less than two years and had no prior meaningful experience to prepare her for being a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

If Sarah Palin were the incompetent you claim she is, they wouldn't still be expending effort trying to destroy her.

Is the media "trying to destroy" Governor Blagojevich or Lindsey Lohan. The media leads with what entertains. Dan Quayle making a fool of himself entertained so he was the butt of endless jokes. Except for the hunting accident, Dick Cheney was extremely competent in how he conducted himself and so the media has not dared to lock horns with Dick Cheney even though they hate his guts.

Sarah Palin is not an "incompetent". From her experience growing up in the outdoors and her experience as a small town Mayor (of a town of less than 7,000), Palin is competent to be the Governor of a State with a population of less than 700,000 than has a very little infrastructure and whose largest city (Anchorage) has a population of only 280,000.

Have you ever been to Alaska? There is not much there to govern. When you are in a car in Juneau, Alaska and you ask a local what road you take to get to Anchorage and they reply, "You can't get there from here", that is not an old joke. It's really true.

Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska since only December of 2006, is competent to remain Governor of Alaska and probably competent to be the Governor of South Dakota or Montana but she is totally inexperienced to be the Mayor of a mayor urban area of greater than 1 million in population, she is totally inexperienced to be the Governor of a large state such as New York or Florida or Texas or California and she is certainly too inexperienced to be President of the United States.

Maybe she isn't Ronald Reagan, but she certainly isn't John McCain or either G. Bush.

Are youn referring to her speeches?

You will get no argument from me that John McCain was a poor speaker but John McCain knew his issues.

George W. Bush was such a horrendous speaker that it is unclear if he ever knew his issues or not.

Sarah Palin is great with a Tele-Prompter (so is Obama) but, if you take her out of her Alaska environment and Alaska issues and take away her Tele-Prompter, she becomes a deer in the headlights.

And she would be better than any democrat.

The 19 year old President of the local Young Republicans Club would be better than any Democrat but it does not follow that somebody with such a dearth of experience should be championed as the Presidential nominee for 2012 if the Constitution allowed it.

AS usual people on here jump to conclusions because of an article that only quotes her and they don’t research the context in which the quotes came from - it is obvious that none of these bashers knew that she was actually interviewed and asked these exact questions which she answered quite well and not in a catty fashion whatsoever! I actually felt really bad for her in some instances like when they made fun of her daughter on national TV and she didn’t know about it. I’m sure she is told during the campaign to not watch TV etc. because it can really get to you! You could tell she was legitimately upset and who wouldn’t be as a caring mother ( I say that because I don’t think Hillary would be the same - she would prob. eat her young to stay in power). She is the most genuine, sincere and honest person I have ever seen run for public office and I want to her to continue - whether that means 2012 or not I don’t care- there are great things in store for this woman in the future if she wants them!

Again, you’re preaching to the choir, or wrong one, as I get that. You really don’t need to convince me. I’m more than aware of this.

Don't take my responses as a direct confrontation with you. If you read over these threads, our little choir is drowned out by the huge choir of the Sarah Palin for Sainthood and President Club.

If Sarah Palin is nominated for President by the GOP in 2012, the GOP will be as electorally relevant in the 2012 general election as the Green Party and Cynthia McKinney.

I am writing past you to try to get the other choir back to reality.

That’s nice but that was the reason that John McCain picked her instead of a male conservative with much more experience. A male with similar experience would not have been given the time of day.” ... Polybius

Preaching to the choir here with me. I do get that. I don’t like it either.

If we agree, then, for 2012, our current choice should be: "D. None of the above".

Ok. So your point is Obama and Palin were both affirmative action candidates and the former is soon to be POTUS?

That is exactly my point.

"There's no underestimating the intelligence of the American public." ...... Henry Louis Mencken

What experience? A Governor, regardless of the size of the population, a former mayor, again regardless of the population. What executive experience did McCain have? None. He was a Senator. Same with Obama. Same with Hillary, but with Hillary, she was married to a POTUS and that seemed to be enough for her to become a Senator of NY. So I’d have to say, Palin was the only one that got the job as Governor, and Mayor, on her own.

So why not champion the Republican Mayor of San Diego, California for President in 2012?

The City of San Diego has almost twice the population as the entire State of Alaska, he has been Mayor one year longer than Sarah Palin has been Governor and, unlike Palin, he is familiar with the Lower 48.

Jesse "The Body" Ventura also "got the job as Governor, and Mayor, on his own".

Ventura was Governor of a State with almost eight times the population as Alaska and he was Governor for twice as long as Sarah Palin has been Governor.

Why not Jesse "The Body" Ventura for President based on "executive experience"?

When we have to resort to the claim that Candidate Y had very little executive experience in 2008 but more executive experience than Candidates X and Z that had none at all, how does that recommend Candidate Y for the Presidency of the United States in 2012 when America has 300 million citizens from which to find one candidate that is truly qualified for such an important office?

Among many Conservatives, Sarah Palin has become the new Katherine Harris.

"She is Conservative, she is cute, we have a crush on her and that is ALL we care about."

“The experience of the conservative I want for President in 2012 is less pathetic than the experience of the liberal candidate for President in 2008.” .... Polybius

Nice attack there :) Change it to all to 2008. I’m not even thinking about 2012 yet. Anyway, yeah, that sums it up given what we have to choose from. .... Twink

That is not an attack. That is the reality of the rationalizations.

As for our list of what we have to choose from, we are a nation of 300 miliion with almost four years to find a better candidate.

Being stuck with the latest popularity darling makes no sense to me. I thought that only Communists and liberals engaged in Cults of Personality but now some Conservatives define Conservatism as having a crush on Sarah Palin.

If Messiah Worship is the official state religion of America, then I nominate the ticket of Romney/Huckabee in 2012. Let those two guys blow their fortunates trying to oust the Messiah. However if Americans deviate from the straight path of liberalism, then I nominate Barbour/Sanford. An all Southern ticket? Unlike the Messiah, Haley actually had to organize communities to recovery from distasters. I would advise Palin and Jindal to use the next decade to gain experience and study up on foreign affairs. They’re young and have plenty of time to wait.
