You mess with the grizzly, you get the claws.
In new interview footage of Sarah Palin released on YouTube this week, the Alaska governor gets not only folksy but downright forceful in unleashing her opinions on the two women most responsible for molding her less-than-flattering public persona, calling out both Katie "What newspapers do you read?" Couric and doppelgänger extraordinaire Tina Fey.

And he’s a great speaker, even though he doesn’t say anything of substance. The Media didn’t call him on it, the people didn’t call him on it, etc.
Agreed.
Well, considering that the State of Alaska will not get a population of over 1 million for the next 20 years or 30 years, that is the best that Sarah Palin can hope for unless she moves to the Lower 48 and gets elected as Governor of a state that has more than barely half the population of Rhode Island.
I dont care that shes female,
That's nice but that was the reason that John McCain picked her instead of a male conservative with much more experience. A male with similar experience would not have been given the time of day.
and most conservatives in my experience, wouldnt care either.
Would most conservatives give a male with similar experience the time of day?
No, they would not.
I would have voted for her if she were male because of her executive experience and background and Conservative ideals.
As far as "Conservative ideals", most long time FReepers would qualify for your and my vote against Obama.
As far as "experience" .......
Ummmmm ..... What "experience"?
Sarah Palin was inaugurated Governor of a state with a population of less than 700,000 in December of 2006. Before that, she was the Mayor of a very small town of less than 7,000 people.
What "experience"?
Compared to Barack Obama, the other Affirmative Action candidate in this election, that is a lot of "executive experience" since his "executive experience" is totally nonexistent.
Compared to what a candidate a heartbeat away from the Oval Office SHOULD have, less than two years of experience as Governor of Alaska is pathetic. Your argument boils down to "The experience of the conservative I want for President in 2012 is less pathetic than the experience of the liberal candidate for President in 2008.
BOTH of these candidates had a level of experience that would NEVER have been tolerated from a white, male candidate for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency.
Ever hear of "Jerry Sanders"?
![]()
No?
He is the Republican Mayor of San Diego, a city with double the population of the entire State of Alaska that has been Mayor one year longer than Sarah Palin has been Governor and was formerly Chief of Police of San Diego for 6 years.
How about having him run for the Presidency. In terms of "executive experience", he more than outshines Sarah Palin but nobody is seriously considering him for the Oval Office because white males are held to a higher standard than Affirmative Action candidates.
What kills me is this is a woman, something thats supposed to matter to all the feminists and others in our gender, race, etc. society. Yet, shes dissed because of being a woman, wife, mother. Makes no sense to me.
I really do not give a moose rump if she is a woman or not.
I judge her by the level of experience that would be demanded of a white, male candidate and no white, male candidate with such meager experience would even be considered for either the Vice Presidency or the Presidency.
As far as the liberals are concerned, you must remember that, if a candidate has an (R) after their name, he or she will be dissed regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, handicapped status, sexual orientation, height, weight, beauty and the horse they rode in on.
Give them hell Sarah.
She is the only Republican leader that has what it takes. Courage.
The Republican party has become a party of wimps. They're in the fetal position afraid of offending the Katie Courics of the world.
Give them the enema they so desperately need.
What's amazing is your hubris. Just because someone thinks that Palin's post nomination performance was questionable, at best, your mind immediately runs to "they must be an Obama plant."
Believe me, there are Democratic strategist everywhere that are hoping against hope that Palin is the GOP's pick in 2012.
They're scared to death of her. She makes the Bamister look like a mere child. Which he is.
BTW ...you're a troll.
McCain should not have picked her as vice president. She was not ready for it. He could have still invited her to warm up the audience at his rallies, however. She is really good at that and it would have introduced her to the nation.
I think that she lacked experience in national and international events and was not prepared. I also believe that she was being pressured from all sides and as a consequence she froze.
The media portrayed her as a dummy, she should counter this impression by describing some of the things that she accomplished in very various jobs. I would like to hear her go into some of the details of her work with energy in Alaska. I think she should should use numbers and jargon to let people see that she does have indepth knowlege in management and technology. I believe that she is really a wonk in certain areas of expertise and it would be good for her national image to be seen as a wonk. Sarah Palin has all the pizzaz but what she needs is to be taken seriously. She needs to educate herself about national issues and talk about the things that she knows very well such as energy.
I would like to see her be governor of Alaska for a couple of more terms, then I would love to see her in the Senate. Then maybe the presidency, but I think too many people are rushing to judgement because they like her. We have to be more cautious and not just go by personality.
I don’t believe Palin “called out” either Fey or Couric. She was asked direct questions about Fey and Couric by the interviewer, and she answered his questions honestly.
No they're not. They were at the very beginning, but they're not anymore. You cannot have the interview performances that Palin had with Gibson and Couric and expect to be VPOTUS.
One could chalk up the Gibson interview to lack of time to prepare, not fully appreciating the bias in the media and horrible, even mean spirited editing on the part of ABC. But the performance in the Couric interview is unacceptable. This is Katie Couric, not David Frost. If you cannot dominate the conversation, or just control it with the cutesy Katie Couric, how can you expect to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Putin, Chavez and Wen Jiabao, not to mention your domestic enemies in the House and Senate.
This latest interview, with a very friendly interviewer does nothing to change my mind. Her answers are not well thought out and frankly, seem petty at times. She would have been much, much better off dismissing those questions and focusing on the contemporary and much more important problems she (should) have with the stimulus packages, bail-outs and current economic turmoil And not the wrote answer she gave on the stump of Standing up to the fat cats on Wall Street and DC". Oh, brother.
Sarah Palin is a nice lady and she is conservative but she does not have the experience, knowledge base and most importantly, communication skills to be leader of the free world.
Flame away. I can take it. Im not going to let my party pick someone else whos going to get beat by the likes of Barack Obama.
Why in the world are you posting a poll given by MSNBC? A poll taken right after election day?
You DO realize, don’t you, that 67% of Republicans AND Independents were polled later on, and said they wanted Sarah Palin to run in 2012?
You DO realize, don’t you, that a poll conducted merely one month ago said that the majority of women thought that Palin got unfair treatment by the press, more than Hillary Clinton got? I believe over 60% of women thought the media was unfair to her. And yes, that covers ALL political parties.
You DO realize, don’t you, that Tiny Fey is only really popular with the elite entertainment types? Whoever said Palin shouldn’t take on Tina Fey because Fey is “so popular” I just want to say...huh? Let’s see.....according to Gallup, more people respect and like Palin more than Fey. According to another poll, most people want Palin as their neighbor...over Oprah AND Fey.
Sorry, but America doesn’t love Fey over Palin. Sorry, but America doesn’t think the mainstreem media/Katie Couric gave “fair and balanced” coverage of Palin.
“Sarah Palin is a nice lady and she is conservative but she does not have the experience, knowledge base and most importantly, communication skills to be leader of the free world.”
Maybe Newt Gingrich can be your man? Because he has the most “experience” over any of the ones thinking of running. Or maybe you’d like McCain to run again? He ran on his vast experience - and look where it got him. Palin has as much - if not more - experience than Jindal, Romney, Huckabee, Sanford, etc. And if she doesn’t now, she certainly will by 2012 as a two term governor.
As for knowledge, I think she has plenty of knowledge. And if she’s weak in some areas, she can study up for 2012. You act as though she’s running for President tommorrow. And you seem to want to give her no chance to learn more.
And as for communication skills....I am educated. I have a master’s degree in clinical therapy. And I don’t think she’s a mindless hick. I think she communicates in a way that the average, every-day American can relate to. And I’d much rather have that than an Al Gore policy wonk who puts me to sleep everytine I turn on the television.
Palin has morals, strength, fiestiness, intelligence, and a “servant’s heart”. She loves God, her family, her country, and has more integrity than the entire policial world put together. The Republican party doesn’t deserve her.
Asked to compare coverage of Clinton and Palin to other candidates, 64 percent said the media was more negative about Palin than anyone else, with half the women saying the coverage was not substantive as well, focusing on their hair and wardrobe instead of where she stood on the issues.
Sorry to disappoint those of you who think Palin is whining. She’s speaking for 64% of the women who did NOT buy the spin of the mainstream media.
As opposed to Bush who came across as....not giving a damn about what the media thinks? Yeah, that really worked for him (sarcasm).
“That’s nice but that was the reason that John McCain picked her instead of a male conservative with much more experience. A male with similar experience would not have been given the time of day.”
Preaching to the choir here with me. I do get that. I don’t like it either.
“Would most conservatives give a male with similar experience the time of day?”
Same question as answered above. I would and can’t speak for other Conservatives but I like to think we understand the issues, or in those cases when we don’t, then we research and learn.
Ok. So your point is Obama and Palin were both affirmative action candidates and the former is soon to be POTUS?
What experience? A Governor, regardless of the size of the population, a former mayor, again regardless of the population. What executive experience did McCain have? None. He was a Senator. Same with Obama. Same with Hillary, but with Hillary, she was married to a POTUS and that seemed to be enough for her to become a Senator of NY.
So I’d have to say, Palin was the only one that got the job as Governor, and Mayor, on her own.
“The experience of the conservative I want for President in 2012 is less pathetic than the experience of the liberal candidate for President in 2008.”
Nice attack there :) Change it to all to 2008. I’m not even thinking about 2012 yet. Anyway, yeah, that sums it up given what we have to choose from. Given what we had to choose from for this 2008 election. By the time the Republican primary reached NJ, there were 3 still running...McCain, Romney, and Huckabee. I didn’t like any of them but voted for Romney because I thought he was the best of the 3. In Nov., I voted for McCain. It was between McCain and Obama. Palin made it much easier to vote for McCain. She was at least Conservative.
“BOTH of these candidates had a level of experience that would NEVER have been tolerated from a white, male candidate for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency”
Yep. And you do realize you’re preaching to the choir on this, right? And one was VP, the other was top of the ticket, President. Our country chose Obama, the affirmative action president.
Also, I wasn’t aware I was arguing anything. I thought I was discussing.
“Ever hear of “Jerry Sanders”? No?”
Actually, yes I have. Thanks to a friend in CA. Although, I must say, I don’t know much about him. I didn’t know much about any of those running for POTUS either, other than Hillary, McCain and Guiliani...and I like Guiliani. I would have voted for him. I learned about Hunter and Thompson and Tancredo here and liked what I learned.
“nobody is seriously considering him for the Oval Office because white males are held to a higher standard than Affirmative Action candidates.”
Again, you’re preaching to the choir, or wrong one, as I get that. You really don’t need to convince me. I’m more than aware of this.
“I really do not give a moose rump if she is a woman or not.”
Nor do I. I was making a point. Here’s a woman, everything the feminists and their male counterparts have been preaching for decades, a woman who has it all, a career, children, husband. And she’s vilified because she’s a Conservative.
“I judge her by the level of experience that would be demanded of a white, male candidate and no white, male candidate with such meager experience would even be considered for either the Vice Presidency or the Presidency.”
I agree. And now we have a half white, no experience, questionable communist/muslim sympathizer soon to be POTUS.
Seriously, you don’t have to sell me on how tough it is today to be a white male, even harder, white, Christian, hetero, male. White males are the scourge of our society today. It’s not PC to say but it’s the truth. I have all daughters. They’re white so they only got the female thing going for them when it comes to college scholarships, oh and the academics too but we all know it’s less than what the “minority” even when they are less qualified, get. They’re white, of European ancestry, so they’re only one notch above the white male.
“As far as the liberals are concerned, you must remember that, if a candidate has an (R) after their name, he or she will be dissed regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, handicapped status, sexual orientation, height, weight, beauty and the horse they rode in on.”
Yep.
Again, I think we agree on just about everything in this topic so not sure where this post of your’s came from. I liked Palin. I liked her more than McCain, Obama, and Biden. And, I still think Guiliani has more experience than any of them and I would have voted for him over McCain.
Come on. Let's get real. I'll leave Huckabee out, I really don't know anything about him. As for the rest, and this is off the top of my head...
Jindal was a Rhodes Scholar. He was a two-term, US Congressman before he became Governor. Louisiana, although small itself, is much, much bigger than Alaska in population.
Romney was/is a business genius. He was the founding member of Bain Capital. Bain is THE capital consulting business in the US. He turned around an Olympic committee that was mired in controversy and failure. He was a Republican Governor in a COMPLETELY BLUE state. It's ridiculous to compare Palin to Romney
Mark Sanford I believe graduated with Honors and has an MBA from Virginia - a very tough, prestigious school. He was a mutli-term US Congressman with high marks from the Conservative Union. I don't know much more about him. Clearly he a sitting Governor in a state with a significant and diverse population.
And as for Palin speaking like most Americans, we are saying goodbye to a President who speaks just like most Americans. No Thanks! I'm comfortable asking just a little bit more from the President of the United States.
I notice you didn’t address my other points. Maybe because I am correct?
No, it's because I'm tired. So, here it goes. I didn't quote a poll, but I was thinking of a post-election poll I believe was taken sometime in December that said almost 65% of Americans thought Palin was a drag on the ticket. The poll's name escapes me, but I'll PM it to you if I remember.
As for the Fey fiasco. I never claimed Fey was or wasn't more popular than Palin. Nor do I care. My point was, it's not wise for ANY politician to get into a pissing match with a professional comedian. The politician, any politician will lose every time.
And lastly, yes most Americans, including me thought that Palin was grossly mistreated by the press and entertainment industry this past election cycle. It was difficult to watch and shameful on the part of Big Media. Having said that, the media bias doesn't impact her understanding, or lack thereof, of complicated, fluid and evolving world affairs AND her ability to articulate solutions and generate dialogue on those matters.
Sarah Palin was and is a political force to be reckoned with. But if she doesn't find a way to "polish her act" she won't be elected to national office, and she shouldn't.
Thats it. If this was a bar, we would throw you out the window. Out you go..
get lost, you washed up anti Bush DUmmie troll.
The same Sarah Palin who gave that great speech at the Republican National Convention was a drag on the ticket ? The same Sarah Palin that gets HUGE ratings whenever she is on television.
I dont buy your poll.
Not sure if she thinks it, but it is a fact. As for your forecast on future elections, thanks, but no thanks. Though I'm sure you are a credible prognosticator.
Sixty five percent of the country simply believes whatever the media tells them to believe.
If Sarah Palin were the incompetent you claim she is, they wouldn't still be expending effort trying to destroy her.
Maybe she isn't Ronald Reagan, but she certainly isn't John McCain or either G. Bush.
And she would be better than any democrat.
