At that time, the area was part of Germany.

I dont know about that. A rejuvinated and resupplied German army under American command would of crushed them IMO.

Forgive me if I dont shed a tear. And a lot of those ethnic Germans willingly moved into Polish homes that were seized by the Nazis in 1939. A lot of them were children who had no choice in the matter. Anyone who murders a child is a monster.

Next time when Josef Goebbels asks “Do you want total war?” Just say ‘nein.’

Next time when Josef Goebbels asks Do you want total war? Just say nein. You realize that some of the victims were toddlers (or not even born yet) when Josef was pitching the war, right? Were they also supposed to speak up and stop the Nazis?

Really? Then back it up with some of your pro-soviet research. You don't think the Allied presence in Europe could of pushed the soviets back across their border? As I recall it Roosevelt "let" uncle joe take Berlin.

Forgive me if I dont shed a tear. The people who stayed behind were probably the elderly, the ill and the infirm. In the history of WWII, a massacre of 1,800 such people is fairly small. But, it doesn't mean we should ignore the horror of such people being massacred for no reason other than the fact that they were of the wrong ethnicity.

You don't think the Allied presence in Europe could of pushed the soviets back across their border? Maybe, if we were willing to soak up another million or so dead. the Red Army would not have just rolled up and played dead.

Yes, we should always remember that there are consequences of starting wars, and it’s the innocent who suffer those consequences.

I didn't know we were playing a game. Seriously, if there are references I can look up to get more knowledgable of that timeframe let me know.

Many of us here have spent decades studying all aspects of WW2 out of curiosity and interest. We have acquired a deep understanding of the evolution of capabilities of both the Allies and the Axis. We have studied the politics of battle and the deals that were made (for example; did you know that we were not going to invade Italy but we were forced to by Stalin who threatened to sue for a separate peace with Hitler if we didn't?).
The Russian army that you think would have been light work had defeated the best of the Wermacht and in larger numbers than those we faced in the west.
The UK had run out of men and the US was getting close to it. In 1945 we were scraping the barrel and pushing green men (boys really)to certain death in huge numbers through the Repple Depple process.
In April 1945 we were planning the invasion of Japan. The conservative estimate was for a three year battle with a million US casualties including 100% of the first wave.
The home-front had already started celebrating the end of the war, they never would have supported a war with Russia in 1945.
There is too much to go into but it's all out there if you really want to learn, just don't expect to google for a few hours and think that you know it all.
Start with Omar Bradley's book, A Soldier's story.

Those are some points I wasn’t even thinking about. I didn’t take into consideration that we were still at war with Japan. Still no excuse for giving stalin all of Eastern Europe, though.

I didn't say it would be light work. I know stalin moved his tank manufacturing industry to the Urals out of Luftwaffe reach and was able to build a large T34 inventory. I'm still under the assumption the Russian winter played a large role in repelling the German invasion.

It was the Russian Army that beat the Germans in the factory sector of Stalingrad. It was the Russians who beat the Panzers at Kirkusk(sp). It was the Russians who forced Hitler to divert an entire army group south to Ukraine causing a six week delay in the summer offensive. This delay made the winter a factor.
Weather was a factor but the Russians were as susceptible to the extreme winter conditions as the Germans although their supply lines were shorter.
Russian military deaths were @ 11 million against Germany only. US military deaths were under 500 thousand in all theaters of operation combined.

"Should of listened to General George S Patton...." That is why Patton was assassinated.

The fate of 1,800 of the 3,800 people known to have stayed behind has long remained a mystery. Actually, the fate of several million Germans in regions occupied by the Red Army has long remained a mystery.
