the collapse of the Jets can be blamed on Farve???? how many Jets games have you watched???
I guess Farve was responsible for a defense that couldn’t tackle....or a defense that couldn’t rush the passer....or a defensive head coach who NEVER adjusted his game plan in three years....
Take it from me- someone whose been to every Jets home games since Nov 1981- Mangini is horrible...his teams were fundamentally flawed, he came with ill prepared game plans and never changed or adjusted to the situation...
this is a hiddeous and rash decision by Lerner- mangina was not a hot property who had teams lining up for his services- the Browns could’ve waited, interviewed some top GM’s (Tom Heckert of the Eagles???) then went back to mangina...
as it is now they’ve got a failed coach and a paper tiger GM....
I spent 16 years watching Favre play in Green Bay. He has a hard-headed attitude and is a dismissive person. When he's playing badly, he'd rather continue playing instead of stepping aside. I'm still peeved over the Giants' NFC victory last January, Favre should have been benched in the 4th knowing it was too cold. There's a reason why Thomas Jones and other players called out Favre.
I watched the last few Jets' games - the important ones that should have been won after the Jets were 8-3 with the division title on a silver platter. There is no excuse for that breakdown, and for Favre throwing interceptions and not getting benched.
He threw like 9 interceptions in their last 5 games. Yes the collapse can be blamed on Favre. Were there other problems? Sure. But Favre was stinking it up out there down the stretch.
