“The hunter, Denny Austad of Ammon, Idaho, hunted the Monroe Mountain District in south-central Utah.”

Weird title. I first thought it was shot in Mont, but it was taken in Utah. Nice Elk.

WOW! I have seen the previous world record taken in 1830 and if this one is bigger than that one, it is a MONSTER!

The Boone and Crocket Club is a sportsman’s club here in Missoula, MT. We are also home to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and lots of hippies.

Yes I am and you are cute! LOL! I wasn't there when it was actually taken but they were kind enough to mount the head and I saw it hanging in an old store in (I think) Steamboat Springs CO. in the 1970’s. It might still be there so you could see it too.

It's important to note this is the record for ANTLER size, not animal size.

The largest elk is the Roosevelt.

I'm making the assumption (duh probably) that you live in Missoula ??

How is the job situation out there if you don't mind me asking....

I'm self-employed, so I'll bring my job anywhere, but hubby would be looking --- so this is why I'm asking.

Minnesota is probably one of the most beautiful states (northern at least), but unfortunately it is slowly sinking into a liberal cesspool --- the stolen election by the acorn gang for franken has about sealed the deal.

So we are looking to move West --- son lives in Wyoming, but hubby loves Montana & the hunting opportunities out there ---- big sportsman he is.

so if you don't mind me bugging you --- I appreciate any info you could provide.

Awesome.

Wonder if bulls like this, bred under controlled conditions, could create a population of super trophy bulls?

Are racks like this tied to genetics or environment or both?

Things are never quite what they seem. The “Spider Bull” was a well-known character in that area that many had been seeking. This Mossback outfitter had some controversies swirling around it and this special, out-of-rifle-season “Governor’s Tag” is a privilege available only to the rich and influential.

We’re not allowed to shoot the hippies. They’re protected. It would be fun though but I don’t know how to get the patchoulie smell off.

Elk smell like roses compared to stinky hippies, and I know they make better table fair (not that I have ever tried hippie).
