Yes, and the MOTHERS will be cheering for him/ with no sense in their marble-filled heads that THEY will follow suit at some point and are assuming that their offspring will not respond in kind.

There was sworn mental health testimony that the youth was abused.

I don't doubt that at all. Sounds like a whole lot of abusing/neglecting was going on.

But the kid isn't docile, or sweet, unless mommy made a eunuch out of him. No human is, naturally.

I play shoot ‘em up video games. In fact, my screen name is a character from one of those games.

Strangely, I’ve never shot my parents.

Agreed. There's many people who play violent video games who never go and engage in real life violence. Blaming [violent video games|violent movies|music with naughty lyrics] is almost always a red herring for bad parenting.

Yep. "Raise up a child in the way he should go, and he will not depart from it" comes to mind.

And violent video games are not intended for 12 y/o's.

Are you following me here?

Several years ago, my Son borrowed a game from a friend. I watched for a few moments and after his "character" picked up a hooker to get "regenerated" I asked him what it was. His response? You probably already know. Grand Theft Auto. I put it down the garbage disposal. The friends parents were pissed to say the least. I told them to sue me.

Parents have all the control they choose to have.

The judge seems to believe he can be rehabilitated.

Not the Judge Conlogue I know. The judge was given an opportunity to say that there was no premeditation involved; he did not. He found the kid guilty of first degree murder.

He's bound by law to sentence him to no more than confinement until he's 18. That's juvenile law in Arizona.

The boy’s lawyer, Sanford Edleman, had argued that the boy did not intend to kill his mother but only wanted to get back at her for abusing him.

&&&&
I guess that’s why he only shot her 8 times.

It says the woman’s shack-up witnessed the murder. Why did he not try to stop it?

Many kids get yelled at but they don’t end up killing their mom. I saw a boy about 10 yesterday. The way he was talking to his mother was terrible. If a child needed slapped in the mouth this one definately did.

Don’t you have to be 14 or older to be charged as an adult?

Did you read the entire article? The youth has been physically and verbally abused by the mother.

From the article: "Police said the boy told them his mother yelled at him and slapped him."

You call that abuse? LOL - you must not have been alive back when parents had rights.

I read it. While I don’t think yelling is a good idea, because you lose control and often say things you don’t mean and get on the kids level, I don’t condider it abuse. As for slapping, I’m old school. If one of mine had cursed me I would have popped them in the mouth, no questions asked.

I know this a hard thing to do but click on the link and read the entire article. The second to last paragraph from the bottom.

The thing is that the little darlins can provoke you into yelling. You lose control and they win.

I think there is a difference between slapping and physical abuse. They had sworn testimony from two mental health professionals there was both verbal and physical abuse by the mother.

How did they come to this conclusion? For these two there are probably two more that would disagree....regardless...that doesn’t excuse killing your mom.

You know, in addition to banning guns (which are 50% of the problem) we should ban certain types of video games which are the other half of the problem.

I agree with that. No disrespect towards the mother but teaching anger management must start when they are young.
If you can’t control a child at 3 then it’s a lost cause, IMO, at 13.
