No, we don’t need laws regulating temp because most adjust to employee/customer comfort. That can’t be regulated. In Texas though, employers are responsible to provide an appropriate work environment. I read what the reporter typed but since they can’t safely work in a restuarant environment without coats etc then I bet OSHA could get the heat bumped up to a comfortable level.

Its hard to get out of paying wages. LLC’s provide limited separation from the individual and the corporation.
I’ve never seen a small business pocket mucho money from going out of business.

I see my hands' True Life Trivia Low Volume Ping List On? Off? Private Reply Please Per popular demand I've registered at Cabalas but, again, really not necessary. XOXOX and Happy New Year! In my late teens I worked the tuna docks in Honolulu. The fish came in frozen. A few other bras, hippies and I would off load the boat and fill crates with the catch in small (~800 sq ft) deep freezers. The work was so cold we were rotated and given a 15 minute break every half hour. I didn't think it was necessary. There was lots of fish tossing and catching. I once took a couple of inches of dorsal fin in the forearm. It went in at a shallow angle so it was cool. The boats I worked were Japanese and their crews generally didn't speak English and were very friendly. If you bummed a smoke they would insist that you take the pack. Those guys should quit. Maybe find work in a sushi restaurant.

I read on another forum that the minimum wage in Washington State went up again and is now the highest in the nation. If this is true, then maybe the owners are trying to make up for increased labor costs without hitting the customers for more money.

Had a boss once that complained about the workers as she sat in her office, stuffing her face and watching soaps.
I have a much better situation now. When they are messing around they have the decency to leave the building.

They should go find another job.

I didn’t read the full article...didn’t have to.
The guy who owns the business has every right to turn the heat off if he wants to. The employees have the right to quit.

Not sure if there was some other back story to this saga, but it doesn’t seem like the boss is being anything other than a word that rhymes with “witch”. Sadly for some, that’s not illegal.
Something else that isn’t illegal is for the local public to order their pizza elsewhere and drive the franchise into closure or surrender. The henpecked husband also did the public a favor by mentioning the name of his wife’s (the boss in the center of this mess) accounting business: “accurate accounting.” Another opportunity for the public to vote with their feet.

Try it. I think you’ll find it difficult to find capital. Banks aren’t stupid and neither are most investors.

Time to call in to that owner, some (in the pizza delivery vernacular) “funny pizzas”.
That ought to get him a clue.
