You asked — “You mean the Chester Arthur dispute? Has that been resolved?”

Nope, that was never resolved, although they *tried* to prove it, but failed. So, according to some here — Chester A. Arthur was *never the President* since he never qualified, under the Constitution.

I wonder what the country did all that time without a President?

You seem to think that these two cases are identical when they are not. Different time and culture tho. Good for Arthur that civil unrest was resolved and that the issue died down enough for him to rule effectively.

How many cases were there in regards to Arthur before the Supreme Court? Are the Obama questions identical to the ones being raised against 0bama? Is everthing in the two instances identical to you?

Sorry for lack of real-time response... still catching up on the thread. Hope my prior responses suffice.

The opposition failed to prove their case, and so Chester Arthur did his term without incident. We only would have had a Constitutional crisis if Arthur was proven to be ineligible during his term of office and he defiantly refused to step down.

Similarly, there needs to be some proof brought forth that Obama is not a natural-born citizen. Until that actually happens, he becomes President.
