The mere registering of the birth of a baby with the Dept. of Vital Stats, even if it was a home birth, would generate a birth announcement in both papers. The announcement appeared in “The Honolulu Advertiser” on Sunday, August 13,1961 and in “The Star Bulletin” on Wednesday, August 16, 1961. The problem with the announcement is the address which was used. The home at that address was owned by Orland Scott and Thelma Lefforge Young.

Why is that relevant? Who are Orland Scott and Thelma Lefforge Young?

The Star Bulletin copied the list from the Advertiser.

Are we sure that this was the principle residence of Scott & Young, and that no portion of it was rented out?
