Pit bull breaks into house, steals cat
The State ^ | 01-02-09 | not MissEdie

From The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News police blotter:

On December 29 in Carolina Forest in Horry County, a victim said that while their cat was on the back patio, he and his wife heard a commotion.

They ran to the patio and saw a pit bull that had broken through the screen, grabbed their cat and broke out dragging the cat.

The victims chased the dog and got their cat, which they took to an animal emergency hospital.

The cat was expected to survive but required more treatment.

The officer located a subject who said he was watching the dog for a family member and a guest had let the dog get out.

Gives a whole new meaning to “cat napping”.

Oh. From the headline I was thinking the pitbull and the cat were going out for recreation against the cat owners wishes.

Never mind.

My sister was born at Perrin while my Dad was in some sorta upgrade fighter jock training. One of the scores (it seems) of bases we were assigned to that no longer exist...thanks for your service!

Similar story on reporting to my first assignment at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM: drove up to the legal office as a new first looey in Dec ‘85 and saw, in big red letters on the side of the legal office, “This building up for disposal in 1985”. Just gives ya warm and fuzzy feelings, doesn’t it?

Colonel, USAFR

“Reality check, he grabbed a cat not a baby.”

The fact is grabbed anything at all says shoot it. MY Golden Retarded has never grabbed anything. I doubt it ever will.

That I have no problem with. However, most dogs are routinely predatory to other animals, it doesn’t make them predatory to humans. If it did there would be no dogs at all.

I’m glad he’s going to be ok too. I cannot understand how anyone who has kids and owns a pit or a rottie in the house can sleep at night.

Reality check. Dog broke into a HOUSE and stole the smallest thing that moved. It could of easily been a baby. Its out of it’s mind and out of control. Dangerous and unpredictable. Destroy that dog.

Actually, while the dog MIGHT have grabbed a baby if it had been available, just because a dog breaks thru a door and grabs a cat does not mean it WOULD harm a person. I’ve had goldens who would have gone right thru a screen to get a squirrel. Face it, dogs see small critters as prey. MOST of them don’t see humans as prey (otherwise we would not be living with them). Frankly, if your cat was as big as a large dog you probably would have to worry about your safety.

Oh my, my goldens are heck on lizards. I hate it because I love lizards, but goldens are hunting dogs.

Yes, your post makes sense...if we weren't talking about pits and rotties. Two untrustable snappable dogs. And I wouldn't be sharing a house with a panther or tiger.
I've seen a dacshund destroy a bird. They are vicious little things!

Pits AND rotties now? Goodness sakes, most of either breed I’ve ever known have been sweet. Doxies on the other hand....

I'm sure the guest was an Obama voter, because no one else could possibly be this stupid.

There is a difference between animals and people. Dogs recognize that difference. That’s why dogs are domestic animals while at the same time being very efficient and useful predators.

The fact that a dog is predatory toward an animal has NO bearing on whether a dog will be aggressive toward a human.

This is an argument PETA, HSUS and the like use. The MSM repeats it.
