The same can be said for popular music, which tended to be melodious and singable. Bestselling songs at the start of 1939 included "Nice Work if You Can Get It" by Artie Shaw's swing band, and "My Reverie" by Larry Clinton & His Orchestra, a "sweet" band (as opposed to a swing band). However, not all Freepers would have been thrilled with "FDR Jones," a smash hit by Chick Webb, Cab Calloway, and others, which is about a newborn baby named in honor of the president.
