Microsoft Corp.'s Zune portable music player is suffering from a glitch that may have frozen thousands of units in the latest setback for the world's biggest software company.

On Wednesday, Zune owners flooded blogs and Internet chat sites to complain that they couldn't listen to music on the 30-gigabyte version of the Zune, an early version of the device, because it wouldn't start up properly.

I thought I had screwed up my Zune 30 this morning, a quick check on the internet showed that it wasn’t just me. Its a leap year bug. All these Zunes (old ones BTW) should work fine as of 7:00 AM EST on 1/1/09.

Personally, I’m not using it, my brother is and he basically has no good words for it. His system is great, but some things about it were horrible, he constantly complained about gaming, amongst other things that comes to my mind is that when he would kill something on WoW the game would completely stop, he has a few gigs of ram with a quadcore processor and can’t multitask with WoW running, whereas mine with dual and same amount of ram on xp can without a problem, but he did just upgrade to 4 gigs and now it’s working decent, and IE was always freezing on him quite a bit, he also told me that quite a lot of stuff wasn’t compatible. So, another one then that can be added is the absurd requirements.

One word Microsoft...recall...just like you should have recalled the stupid xbox 3 which cost $499.00 and broke in 5 months and six days. They refused to replace it...later they decided to extend the warranty, but I had already tossed it. I can’t stand Microsoft and would never buy another expensive item from them.
