Her bizarrely grotesque character in “Detour” is rather unlike anything else you’ll ever encounter in an old 40s movie. Quite memorable; it stays with you, in a somewhat unnerving way. First saw the film over thirty years ago on a late-show, and enjoy revisiting it every now and then. Seedy, ultra low-budget and suffocatingly claustrophobic, yet so very watchable. PRC’s finest hour.

It was always nice seeing Savage in other films, where she at least came across pleasantly normal!
