Oh bull. They’re just looking for a poster-creature more cuddly than polar bears.

>>Uh, all green plants thrive on increased CO2 levels.<<

Not true. Just shows what you know. These Eucaliptus trees are rare and CO2 poisons them. They need not CO2 but more human blood:

Seriously though, the "experts" involved in this article just jumped the shark.

“A government scientist has warned..”

That’s where the problem lies — the government scientist who’s findings will be based on political considerations.

Try starting some forest fires.

Eucalyptus trees have dotted the Australian landscape for millions of years, and today they are probably the most common trees on the continent. Eucalyptus, able to survive poor soil, dry spells, and fire, is hardy enough to have spread throughout much of the land and take a central place in the lives of the forest's wildlife.

Eucalyptus trees are so well adapted to forest fires that a conflagration actually causes them to flourish. Soon after a fire dies out, chemical changes triggered by the flames' heat cause new buds to shoot out of the trees. The fire's hot winds can also help distribute eucalyptus seeds, sowing new tree colonies far and wide and eventually providing new homes for kookaburras.

They signed the Kyoto Protocol on the belief that New Zealand would make a fortune out of it. Unfortunately, somebody did their maths wrong and forgot to shift some decimals or something. Instead it is going to cost New Zealand a fortune.

Not to worry, Helen decided that the best way to pay for this blunder was to impose a “Fart Tax” on our cattle and sheep, to “pay” for all the methane they produced...

Naturally, our farmers didn’t take kindly to that, and so they marched on Parliament en-masse with pitch-forks. Helen relented.

I do not know how our new National government intends to pay for Kyoto — it is still on our books — but no doubt it will be expensive.

We have plenty to thank AlGore Inventor of the Internet(R) for!

CO2 is toxic now folks. These people have lost their minds!

No, they haven't lost their minds. It's a combination of leftists lying AND depending on the complete scientific illiteracy of the media (and the media's complete abandonment of actually checking on facts, since the lies presented represent the media's world view). And they depend on the scientific illiteracy of those who consume the media.

CO2 IS toxic... To animals in high concentrations. However, we're nowhere near those levels of concentration in the atmosphere. But higher levels of CO2 are quite "nutritious" for those that consume it... Like plants and trees!

It's really amazing how the reporter can't seem to grasp grade school biology.

Environmentalism is a cult and a conspiracy that makes Mormonism and Freemasonry look mainstream and boring by comparison.

"Environmentalism" is where the communists have found a home. Which is really rich, when you consider what an environmental disaster the communist countries were once the iron curtain came down. It shows just how incredibly stupid environmentalists and leftists really are. They're sewing the seeds of environmental destruction by supporting communists. It's the capitalist societies that are able to set aside time, effort, and money to actually do something to improve the environment.

For the most execrable behavior of bewythching the general public and causing panics and expenses to citizenry, and for making pretense beyond that which Satan the devil could ever conjure, we goode people of this land must cause thee above sons of belial to repenteth of their neer-do-welling through the appropriate punishments affordeth us by Divine direction.

Sir James Hansen of NASA, Madame Heidi Cullen of the Weather Channel and Sir Albert Gore with the accompaniment of their false so-called sciences have been leading the disgusting practice of imagineering apocalyptic consequences, and so profiting thereby, despite the objections of many calmer ladies and gentlemen in the community.

We will give the above laudations for their encouragement to save the ethers (energy), however, they must atone for their overindulgence into the speculations falsely warning of global flooding, the demise of polar bears, the hyper warming of the planet (less than 1 degree in 100 years), the Carbon Credit scam, and other products of their deluding science.

The koalas are rather stupid. During the day, if you see one up in the trees, they just look vacant and more than a bit mean. I have read that they are vicious if cornered during the night, when they are active.

It is like polar bears and dolphins: they look *cute* to the anthropomorphic crowd, but it is an illusion.

A government scientist has warned that climate change, and specifically the rising levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, is pushing up toxins and lowering nutrients in eucalyptus leaves.

It's insulting to science to refer to these PC brainwashed idiots as "scientist". And how "convenient" that he chose a terrible cute little animal. Was Bambi not available?
