Interesting story of an 18-year old and the compassion of her family, coach, and roommates in a trying time.
Found originally at Idaho Statesman but went to the source so I didn't have to excerpt.
Nice story - thank you for posting it.
There was a FReeper a few years ago who had complete loss of memory of everything for about 6 months preceding her spinal surgery. The surgery was something planned way in advance, to deal with some previous injury that was causing pain, so there was no head trauma involved. Apparently it was just an unusual effect of the anesthesia. She came back to FR and had to explain to FReepers she’d known well, but for less than 6 months, why she didn’t remember them or any of the things they’d previously discussed. But she was a molecular biologist, and didn’t seem to have forgotten anything about that, except specific things she’d read or done in that 6 month period. Very, very weird. And as far as I know, she never got that time period back.
The one cool thing, when we were asking her questions and showing her pictures, I showed her a picture of Jesus.
She knew his name.
Matthew 19:14—But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

End of August my wife came down with Central Nervous system Lyme disease (CNS) while on vacation.
Took the doc’s 9 days to quit argueing among themselves and start treating her. She ended up in a coma for about 10 days. she has no recollection at all of the 30 dyas she spent in the hospital.
Speech was slurred didn’t recognize me, the only one she recognized was her sister.
she is well on the mend, but still has some memory loss.
Thanks for posting. I just love that she knew Jesus. Gave me goosebumps.
