upgrade to Spyware Guard 2009?
Nope. Over the last eight years, there are only about 10 Trojan applications running around that some pundits have called viruses for OSX... but the vulnerabilities that they exploited have long since been closed.
Better than half of them, like Inqtana-A&B, used already closed vulnerabilities that Apple itself announced after they had closed them.
Even when they were "vulnerabilities" to exploit, a Mac user had to go to extraordinary lengths to get infected. One highly touted "Mac Virus," LeapA or OompaA, took two computer security specialists, two Mac software engineers, and two hardware guys over six hours merely to get it to copy itself from one Mac to another... and then malware payload didn't work.
Low level format.. reinstall OS... use sandboxie for anything except system upgrades...
Ummm..., the Mac OS does have UNIX running it...
You said — “Does anyone get these viruses on their MAC?”
Nope, they don’t..., which is the real nice thing about running Mac OS X. Get one and forget about these nasty bugs and/or other malware...
And..., by the way, if you need to, you can run Windows at the same time that you’re running the Mac OS X. It’s a nice procedure, to have a Windows program running inside of Mac OS X (if you really want to do that...).
*
Step 2: Copy as much data as possible off the infected PC (financials, mp3's etc )
Step 3: Flatten the OS and reformat using OS disks and install disks.
what is the outcome?
I downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware & am running it now
MRU blaster, spyware blaster, AVG free, Super AntiSpyware, spybot and .......firewall set to kill mode !
Add CCleaner and you have a suite of freeware, free updates, no cost for subscriptions yet donations are accepted to support their efforts. No false flags to “prove” you should buy their product as does norton etc etc ....As well no conflicts thus far with Vista X64 ultimate.
NOD32 and Kaspersky are best if you feel you must pay for your software.
Free is good !
Merry Christmas Ya’ll !
SuperAntiSpyWare will get rid of SOME of SpyGuard 2008 but not all of it. HOWEVER, the GOOD NEWS is that I got rid of all that evil virus by downloading Malware. Now no SpyGuard 2008 on my 'puter so far as I can tell.
A fringe benefit of the MalWare program is that, in addition to ridding my ‘puter completely of the SpyWare Guard virus, it also got rid of something that was previously freezing up my computer. Everything here running MUCH smoother now.
There will be a download button out to the left.
