Rubber ducks keep NASA guessing
abc ^

The American space agency NASA has made an appeal for public help with one of its stranger experiments.
It wants information on the fate of 90 rubber ducks deployed on a special mission to pinpoint where melt waters go under the Greenland ice shelf in summer months.
The bathroom toys were put into one of the crevasses which drain vast amounts of Greenland's melt waters in the hope they would pop out eventually and reveal the route taken by the water.
Nothing has been seen or heard of the ducks since.

Perhaps NASA needs another couple billion dollars, to fund this important research. They can start the “Ernie’s rubber ducky” research/space station boon-doggle program.

By the time you figure what the cost of this is, (getting rubber ducks, team to a remote spot in Greenland, airfares, freight charges, Helicopter rental, hotel charges, per diem, wages, benefits, etc, etc) we could have saved the mortgages of twenty Americans...

hey, we the “tax paying folk” paid for this nonsense.
Rip it good!
I say if plastic ducks can’t get off the water to fly elsewhere, well thats kidna like NASA not getting funding to “fly elsewhere”.
Your (and my) tax dollars at work.

I think they could have put locator transmitters in 10% of them for considerably less than a billion dollars...

I think it was Sen. John Mccain who said NASA stands for “Never A Straight Answer,” I tend to agree with him on that. If they could put those transmitters on for less than a billion, I don’t know if they’d admit it. :^)
