Had a doctors appt. today, but no one said I had to go straight there and right back home again!

This is a downtown lake in St. Augustine, almost always something there eating fish! Snowy Egret and Great Egret.

swampsniper went to the doctor. I don’t know how he did...apparently well enough to use his camera...

I shot a deer in NC once and when I found it, little red ticks were pouring off it like it was changing colors.

Life’s rough in the wild.

Beautiful, SS!

Year round warm weather is great, but the bugs never end. We’ve quit hunting rabbits and squirrels because they are infested with ticks and fleas.

Life’s rough in the wild.

You said a mouthful. My wife and I spent the better part of a year camping out. It's easy to talk about how pre-European Americans lived in harmony with nature, but once you have spent part of every day picking ticks off yourself, and trading revisions of your nether parts with a significant other, a little chemical warfare against the tiny critters doesn't seem so abominable. Give me bug spray!

I spent a couple of winters, more or less, out in the field in North Carolina in National Forrest near Ashville. Sleeping in a truck or a tent was rare. Almost everyone would have low grade pneumonia within month. Sleeping on the ground was like sleeping on a chill plate.

Another time I had to check out about 20-30 goats we bought. About half had pneumonia, all lice or ticks.

It's like when I watch westerns or military shows. Everybody is way too clean.

One time I was on the base and I started to turn the corner of a building and I was wondering where the stink was coming from. I thought maybe the Honey Wagon was pumping out a ripe, filled up septic tank. No, it was a dismiss formation of about two hundred grunts that had been out for three weeks. I could smell them a football field away. They, of course, didn't think they stank.
