RUBIDOUX, Calif. (KABC) -- A man has been killed by a pair of pit bulls in the Rubidoux area of Riverside County shortly after noon Friday, according to authorities.
The attack took place in the back yard at a home at 5787 Kenwood Place in the community of Rubidoux.
The investigating officers are from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
"At 12:10 this afternoon, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department received a call of a man that had been mauled by two pit bulls," said Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez, Riverside Co. Sheriff's Dept. "Deputies arrived and found the [60-year-old] man still in the back yard of this residence."
...
"The two dogs, one of them being a very large [male] pit bull, and the other one is also a female pit bull, are family pets," said Sgt. Gutierrez. "He was in the back yard smoking a cigarette, and for unknown reason, the two dogs that were known to him, just attacked him."

Because when you want to protect a meth lab, only the best will do?
Some “pets.”
good one.
This is a pretty funny situation. / sarc
Sometimes I wonder if pit bull lovers will ever run out of excuses for these evil dogs.
I wasn’t being funny.
Have you ever seen one of those hairless chihuahuas? Ye gods, those little things are ugly, about as bad as hairless cats.
The article said they didn't know the relationship of the dead man to the owner of the dogs. Further, that the owner signed the dogs over to the human society.
Come on! Ain’t you quick drawing conclusions? I am not a pitbull lover, I don’t even own a pitbull. However, I wonder how much of this is a media fabrication: if a dog attacks a man, and the breed of the dog is not known, it automatically becomes a pit bull. At least that’s the impression you get from the news. Ever seen pics of the dogs? Some are big dogs, some are small. Some have flat noses, some have long ones. Some have long tails, others have short ones... You get the idea!
They slap and pull hair, too.
The Mods won't let us post pictures of what you wonder is a "media fabrication." But you can Google it for yourself.
Search under the words "pitbull victim" and "pitbull mauling".
The people that have suffered horribly from these "lovable, my dog would never hurt anyone" beasts are no fabrication.
LOL! Thanks.
It wasn’t the owner; it was a friend of the family.
The article also states there were 9 puppies at the house. Given the adult dogs were male and female, could this have been a puppy mill?
