“In what used to be the Russian empire, where no oppressed nationalities had the right to their own languages, 15 independent socialist republics were established, along with autonomous republics in Russia. Languages which had had no written form before the revolution were alphabetized.
The downfall of socialism in the Soviet Union means starvation, rampant disease and homelessness to millions. Capitalism cannot meet the needs of the workers, and it can never resolve national oppression.”

She had also been the Workers World vice-presidential candidate in the elections of 1984, 1988, 1996, and 2000.
