LAKE FOREST, Calif. Pastor Rick Warren is set to deliver the invocation for President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 20, Saddleback Church officials confirmed Wednesday.
Kristin Cole, a spokeswoman for Warren, said church officials were waiting on Obama's team to make the announcement.
Just this past August, Obama and John McCain were guests at the two-hour Saddleback Church Civil Forum on Leadership and Compassion where Warren questioned them about issues that ranged from abortion and same-sex marriage to the nature of good and evil.

There is already one version of this story posted on FR and most Freepers are trashing Warren for agreeing to appear with pro-abort Obama. Meanwhile the DUers are absolutely flipping out over this, mostly due to Warren's prominence in the Prop 8 fight -- some of the harshest Obama criticism I've seen in the moonbat swamp the gay/atheist contingent. Ol' Barry is playing it down the middle to start, or at least attempting to give that appearance.

I like Rick Warren, but there’s no way I would watch that evil bastard get inaugurated. He will NEVER be my president.
To: Callahan
Warren is one of a group of prominent ministers who were praying for both candidates up until the election and have continued a prayer chain for Obama since the election.
I'd rather have people praying for Obama than complaining about him.

Good political move for Obama to placate conservatives, but just shows you what and idiot Rick Warren is. He is there to provide cover for this rot.

I don’t know much about Rick Warren but I know Billy Graham counseled Clinton. How did you feel about that? At least Nobama didn’t ask Wright (I refuse to call him Rev.).

Does Warren really believe that Obama has a mandate from God ????

So, what?
Rick Warren will be at Obama’s inauguration along with Chief Justice Roberts, President Bush and Dick Cheney.
No Big Deal.

The Chief Justice, President, and Vice President are government officials. Warren is a preacher. There is a huge difference. Obama supports infanticide. A man of God can meet with such a fellow, but in no way should he help out the man politically, and that’s exactly what he’s doing by accepting Obama’s invitation. Warren is too smart to not know the political reasons that Obama selected him, so I see nothing wrong with saying that this was a bad moral decision on Warren’s part.

Men of the State and men who claim to be preaching the Word shoudl have different standards. There is no reason that Warren has to be THE one to speak. There are plenty of leftist idiots who call themselves religious who would be willing to give the invocation.
