Senate Seat for perpetuity
Self | self

Posted on 12/17/2008 11:50:41 AM PST by BooBoo1000

I notice that there is a big fight in the Kenneday family about who will get " Teddy's" Senate, when he is called to the big trough in the sky. Can anyone tell me the section of the Constitution that allows family members to automaticlly take a Senate seat if an elected member dies during a term? Also what would make Caroline Kenneday think she has any special talants that would make her a good Senator to take Hillary's seat??

It’s the Chappaquiddick Clause. And Caroline is qualified because she can crack open walnuts on her “Kenneday” jaw.

As a member of America’s ROYAL FAMILY, it’s her BIRTHRIGHT, you silly goose.

There’s nothing in the Constitution about it, but the interests of the Kennedy’s, and potentially of other political families, are covered under the “House of Lords Act of 2008.”

The chosen Kennedy will have to be elected by the masses.

The Massachusetts legislature changed the law a couple of years ago away from the appointing of senators when the state was run by a republican governor.

I think it’s her birthright to wait for her uncle’s seat. Or maybe to take away John Kerry’s. ;)

House of Lords Act sounds just about right.

The more I hear about all this shuffling and buddies getting good posts with good pay... well it reminds me of good ole England with sons inheriting titles and wealth. Caroline Kennedy has done nothing but be born. She has done nothing to qualify her to be a Senator, except she has the last name required to make her royalty.

“...what would make Caroline Kennedy think she has any special talents that would make her a good Senator to take Hillary's seat...”

The right of ‘celebritydom’, you know? The same right that let Billy Boy walk away and thumb his nose at us, that let his ‘wife’ possess hundreds of FBI dossiers with impunity, the right that let Hussein get himself elected without presenting a correct and proper birth certificate or to account for his long and direct association with demonstrably certifiable racist hate mongers who are also the avowed enemies of our country... tell me when to stop

This is not a democracy. This is not a constitutional republic. This is an oligarchy.

Well, when the Gov belonged to a Republican, the Dems in the Legislature passed a bill that required a special election take place for a replacement Senator. Once a Dem got the office, they decided on a new bill leaving it up to the Gov to appoint. And my guess is, Cadillac Deval owes the Kennedys somewhere down the line.

This is how idiots get elected; Obama proved that a candidate doesn’t need experience or citizenship. Caroline just has name recognition (which I’m so sick of hearing about the Kennedys I could barf) along with her mom’s money. All she has to do is smile with a toothy grin. Wouldn’t hurt to have Obama’s dumbo ears either.

With all the questioning the media put into Palin's qualifications for VP, I can't wait to see the field day they have questioning Kennedy's qualifications . . . .

It’s something that the Democrats have copied from North Korea. It’s part of being the “party of the people.”

Lately we’ve had a number of offices go from parent to child here in Illinois. There are about a half-dozen political families who run the state. Believe it or not, we have a Kennedy of our own — Chris, who is RFK’s son — and he has been named as a possible replacement for Obama. Wouldn’t THAT be great???

How about the "Widow Carnahan" in Missouri, when the morons here elected a "dead guy" for Senator. They bequeathed the seat to his wife for two years, and then had a special election.

Now even Carnahan's idiot daughter is AG or something and is useless and dangerous.

In Mass., Kennedy gets re-elected no questions asked. Too many old folks remember John and Robert and think they “owe” Teddy their vote. Unions and Colleges know Ted helped feather their nests. And anyone inside the 128 belt or in Worcester, Lawrence/Lowell, Haverill, Springfield, etc that have a higher number of “minorities” are also in the pocket. Add to that a Republican Party that is ineffective and actually makes deals with Kennedy and you see what you get.
