If his Chuckness grew it out, maybe. He always kept it to short. It looks like he is saying I just got over having pneumonia and haven’t shaved in a week or two.

I'll bet you won't say that to his face...

If looks could kill ... that’s a killer ...’stache or no ‘stache.

Very nice, very nice indeed! Did you get much flack when you started to shape your “Friendly Mutton Chops”? I’m growing the usual boring short boxed beard.

Nope ... as a matter of fact, I got quite a bit of friendly compliments about it, even as it grew in.

When I was on leave for any extended period of time while in the service, I always grew a fu-manchu type moustache. But, when I retired and I decided to grow my military-approved moustache out, my wife told me that it just made me look mean. So, that wasn't an option.

So, one day, while watching the movie "Gettysburg", I noted the full Burnside-style muttonchops worn by the COL Chamberlain's brother and asked my wife what she thought of that. She loved it and so, in 1995, I started to grow it out and it's been there ever since.

People stop me on the street and in stores to compliment me on it. It's definitely an ice-breaker.
