we should celebrate one of the few organizations sports-based, or otherwise, who are able to run a profitable and successful business in good times and bad.

Celebrate what? The Yankees just spent over $200 million on pitching and then had the nerve to ask for over $200 million in public financing because of construction cost overruns. In addition, they, along with the city of NY falsified the actual worth of the property the new stadium was built on. Oh, and how about the public park that was torn down to make way for the new stadium? It was supposed to be replaced with new parkland, but now it looks like that won't happen either. The best thing that can happen to the Yankees is that the ghosts of the old stadium don't make the trip across 161st street to the new stadium. And just to make sure Ol' Babe won't be helping out, the Yankees cursed themselves by breaking ground for the new stadium on the anniversary of Babe Ruth's death. PS. I'm born and raised in The Bronx, so don't think I'm some rabid Sox fan.

That's a good point, but let's get real here. The Yankees franchise is one of the most valuable team in any sports league on the planet, and yet they leech off the taxpayers of New York City to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars to finance their playground.

I say this as a Yankee fan, too.

Not sure how you can make that statement given that teams keep their books closed. Further, the Yankees are profitable not because of the team itself but because of the YES Network.
