A mother has been accused of selling newborn twin boys for £9,000 to pay for cosmetic surgery. Sonia Ringoir, a 31-year-old restaurant worker from the Belgian tourist haven of Ghent, was arrested and charged last week after the allegations were made by her estranged husband.
Marc Poppe, 48, told an undercover reporter for Dutch television that Ringoir had sold the babies to a friend to fund liposuction, the fat removal procedure. He said the couple had searched the internet to find a quick way of making money: “It was financially attractive to us. Of course we wouldn’t do it for nothing.”
Since Belgium has no law banning the sale of children, Ringoir has been charged with “degrading treatment” of the twins. She has also been charged with fraud after a Dutch couple alleged she had conned them by falsely offering to be a surrogate mother. If convicted, she could face between one month and five years in jail.

Let me be the first to note that this situation sucks.
This stuff goes on all the time, maybe not the liposuction, but women sell babies all the time. People advertise wanting to buy them.

I need to know the total number of pounds liposuckted before I can make a reasonable assessment of the situation. It’s the engineer/mathematician in me.

If indeed this story is true...I have one thing to say: “This woman may have given birth but...she is NOT the someone special it takes to be a mother.”
I hope these two babies can go be with people who are not selfish and will give them a good, loving home.

I wonder about whether or not this whole deal is truly immoral. There is also the mention of 5 other children she has by other men. She got rid of two babies she didn’t want without killing them, they got a loving home that wanted them, and they aren’t being stuck as the 6th and 7th children of a woman who can’t keep her life or legs together.
The Belgian government should tie her tubes, run checks and try to keep the kids in the adoptive home, and get on with life.
