Anyone seen the new movie "Eagle Eye"? [VANITY]

My daughter just watched it. She told me it about our founding documents and she said that the movie basically says it is not illegal to stage a revolution to overthrow our corrupt government.

I'd like to hear what fellow freeper's think about this topic.

I am not advocating the overthrow of our governement, only a discussion about the topic.

And has anyone else seen the movie? I will be going this weekend to a movie near me.

You do know however that we do have a computer system that monitors every single phone call in the US.

It will pickup keywords and type out the complete conversation and flag the call.

We’ve had it for years.

Two Hubble space telescopes, one points at Earth.

‘BTW- I’m involved in a startup that makes a super strong Mg alloy that is 35% lighter than Al. Only it isn’t green.’

would you be able to explain? sorry-—i don’t understand what you’re talking about...:)

I hope that if the powers of this country turn on the people of this country that our military will recognize that abuse and defend us...

I noticed your home page had Ayn Rand on it. She wrote a book that most who know of her have read called Atlas Shurgged. It refers to that book and characters therein.

How do you get that response from my post? My post actually suggests that there are times when revolution is a necessity.

The plot was a ripoff of the "Terminator" franchise. The special effects were state-of-the-art and the sound track was earsplitting! I saw it at a Marcus mega-plex on their "Ultra" screen. There were about five other people in the seats for the performance.

I had originally picked a seat about mid way back from the screen. I found it necessary to move further back toward the rear of the theater because the extra wide screen coupled with all the nonstop action footage (shot w/ a hand held camera without the Steadicam stabilizer) was making me nauseous. I am not generally subject to motion sickness. Neither plane, nor ship, nor car engenders the urge to re-gurge, but their camera work did in short order.

If you ignored the underlying impossibility's of the scenario and just let the action carry you along, it was worth the trip (provided you had no better things to do for two hours, like organize your sock drawer). The nonstop action rolls along like a video game.

Regards,
GtG

PS Next time I'll remember to bring along some earplugs! The soundtrack must have been cranked up near the threshold of permanent hearing damage. That's not a fault of the movie as much as the theater.

Yes, I saw it. It is a decent thriller movie, somewhat reminescent of other “big brother is everywhere” movies, with a twist.

The movie is FAR from a call for revolution, however. Without giving too much away I’ll just say that all the quoting of the Constitution that is done is by THE VILLAN.

In that sense it follows many other Hollywood movies that consistently show anyone who styles themselves a Patriot as: delusional, psychopthic, Nazi-sympathizing, racist, hyper-religious, subject to hearing voices, dangerous and most importantly - WRONG.

Yes, there is a clever twist to it, but the basic messages are pure Leftywood.

I did the same with Fountainhead.

Got to page two (maybe paragraph two) and thought "this is not for me".

IIRC a guy standing nude on a cliff, shore, someplace.

If you read it now you will say OMG. Because her book is all about what we see going on right now.

Rush sometimes starts his show by saying he feels like he is living in an Ayn Rand book.

I agree there is technology that can track, electronic eavesdropping and such. This movie however was beyond just tracking the movements of a person over a period of weeks or even hours. The plot assumed a computer not only can track a person in real time, but calculate the physics of objects falling on the person and hit the person while in transit at will.

For example a guy was walking under high voltage lines in the middle of a vacant filed miles from anywhere. The computer then calculated a amount of current to surge the high voltage lines causing them to rupture and land exactly right on top of the guy as he was walking. The computer did these sort of things one after another, until you just had to laugh at the screenwriters for their lack of knowledge of the reality the real world events are really not that predictable.

Weather, tornado’s are a good example, most life events are random and are subject to chaos theory where a small change to the boundaries can produce a large unpredictable event some time later, no amount of calculations can predict every movement in the universe to exact certainty.

Take planetary motion for example, two planets by Kepler’s laws and gravitation we can plot their positions from now until eternity. But add just a one more planet, and the solution is extremely more complected..

The viewer of this movie is supposed to believe that a computer can be made powerful enough to predict the movement of people and every object on the face of the earth!

As I said, you have to have a willing suspension of disbelief to get beyond that, but once you did, the bad acting and casting, made it unbearable. I have to admit, I walked out on the last 10 minutes, the plot was beginning to be just too predictable, maybe there was a twist ending, so I may not have given a good review it deserves. If you see it, report back and let us know what you think!

I hear you, sounds like they went a bit too far. Sad part is some will think it is possible.

Our "form of government" is not all that bad, it's the corrupt politicians and the massive bureaucracy that they have allowed it to become that need to be overthrown.

The DOI is just as valid and timely now as it was in 1776.

To sign a Declaration of Independence V.2008 now would be as much of an honor and priviledge as it was back then.

I just saw this movie on DVD.

I do believe it has sent us a message, when the machine fails humans still have to step in and uphold the Constitution.

This was a film that escaped me or it had minimal advertising, I never heard about it and just bought it on the basis of having something to watch when the weather is too cold, I was amazed at a lot of things, it has a surreal political sense of timing and some scenarios that are almost believable, if you really think the technology is there. Arguably most of it really is there.

It was a really good action flick.
