...Obama "is going to change hip-hop for the better," predicted the rapper...
"I really do believe we as hip-hop artists pick up what's going on in the world and try to reflect that," he told CNN, outlining his belief that mainstream as well as so-called "conscious" rappers -- the more socially aware -- will pick up on what he sees as the more optimistic prospects of an Obama presidency.
"I think hip-hop artists will have no choice but to talk about different things and more positive things, and try to bring a brighter side to that because, even before Barack, I think people had been tired of hearing the same thing," he said.
...He serves as a spokesman for Lincoln Navigator and purports on his new album to "rebel in YSL," a reference to designer Yves Saint Laurent. Money is also a weakness, as Common -- No. 14 on Forbes magazine's 2008 list of richest rappers -- regularly invokes the greenbacks he makes and spends.
...Even now, while paying homage at mainstream hip-hop's altar, the Chicago-born lyricist also enters parishes where most rappers wouldn't be seen. He's helped front movements for HIV/AIDS awareness and vegetarianism, and he's written two children's books emphasizing the importance of self-esteem.
Lyrically, violence has never been his thing; soft-drug use has been mentioned but rarely glamorized; he removed homophobic references from his lyrics years ago; and while there have been hints of misogyny and the occasional N-word in his verses, neither has been a staple of his rhymes.
..."I would truly love to go increasingly in the acting direction," he said. "My goal is to be a movie star. I want to be at Will Smith's level. I want to be co-leading with Leonardo DiCaprio."

And this appears (from the article) to be about spouting the liberal line (he even backed off of criticism of homosexuality) because if you play their game, you will get industry accolades and promotion. Team up with Kanye West and Obama and say what the liberals want you to say. It's all a stepping stone to becoming an actor anyway. Training is for chumps. Celebrity trumps.
I guess violent rap lyrics were all Bush’s Fault (tm) too. ;)
He must be desperate for cash. Maybe “The One” will be his financial saviour?
Someone should ask Common why does it take a “black-looking” biracial man in the Presidency to change what should already be in our hearts. Are we as black people so hungry for a leader that we can’t move or change without one? What other nation in this world would give us the freedom or opportunity to be ourselves and express ourselves?
Obama will walk on water and cure leprosy long before he reforms the street thuigs who make this alleged ‘music’.
The article says he’s written some childrens’ books on self-esteem.
Too many in the black community seem to hold their own back by telling their children that other people don’t like them and will never like them. It is a perpetual cycle of verbal abuse.
What is the message we need to be teaching the public about AIDS? Who is it that isn’t getting the message? Who is it that is continuing the party? What are the dominant manners of transmission? And are they not getting the message about how AIDS spreads or do they just ignore the warnings?
We are told that AIDS is Reagan’s fault because he “did nothing”. How much money has been spent now on education and research and how would spending more money in the first suspected 5 years have changed it? There would still be no cure. Would people be that much more accepting of the messages on how to limit the spread of the disease?
We’ll all be forced to accept hip-hop and gangsta rap as “legitimate” entertainment. And every time a howling talentless beetch totally hoots and ghettos up the national anthem we will all rise as one and be “proud”.
CNN’s got our back on the really important issues.
Lyrics to Ludacris' Obama rap song, "Obama Is Here"
"With a slot in the President's iPod, Obama shouted him
Said I handled my biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put me in office, make me a Vice President
Hillary hated on you so that bitch is irrelevant
Now Jesse talkin slick and apologizin for WHAT~?!
If you said it then you MEANT it how you want it, head or gut
And all you other politicians tryin to hate on my man
Watch us win majority vote in every STATE on my man
You cain't stop what's 'bout to happen, we 'bout to make history
The first black President it's destined and it's meant to be
The threats ain't fazin us, the nooses or the jokes
Get off your ass black people it's time to get out and vote
Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in ANY chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and just throw 'em like candy wraps
Cause what you talkin I hear nothin even relevant
And you the worst of all 43 Presidents
Get out and vote, or the end'll be near
And the world is ready for change cause Obama is here
YEAHHH! Cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change cause Obama is here
Yeahhhh, cause Obama is here
Say world is ready for change cause Obama is here
Hey!

Well, it’s either this or the tragedy of Oprah’s fat cat weight gain.
