No. I get these maybe once a year or two. When I get them I buy over the counter external drops if I get anything at all. What anti-viral medicine are you referring to and would it just be taken when I get cold sores or all the time? Thanks.

I know one of the scientists working on the HSV and Alzheimer’s link and he is convinced enough to take oral acyclovir daily.

I get cold sores about 1-2 a year too... I just take L-Lysine amino acid and they never get bad....

My wife takes them. I don't think they do anything and are expensive as hell.

I get cold sores from playing tennis in the sun or after I run following a break from exercise. I wish they could find out what deficiency is created by the exercise so I could boost it to deter cold sores.
