I wasn't willing to pay $55 to watch the fight alone. I am starting to regret that decision.

Did De La Hoya run out of his under-age girls?

Well, De la Hoya got $15 Million at a time when millions of Americans have lost their jobs. Nothing really to complain about.

And he lost to Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines — considered today’s best pound for pound fighter in the ring.

Hey that guy Pacauiao is one class act. After the fight, he approached De La Hoya and told him — “You’re still my idol.”

Come to think of it, De La Hoya is a class act too — he replied : “No, you’re my idol now.”

Now, why can’t everyone be as sportsmanlike as this ?

It’s not the size of the dog in a fight....it’s the size of the fight in the dog that wins................ Pac was much hungrier than his opponent and a lot younger, wasn’t even close......

Manny Pacquaio's trainer, Freddy Roach, perfectly described how it would unfold. Oscar was unable to pull the trigger against a fighter with the reflexes of Manny Pacquaio.

I thought that De la Hoya's natural size would make the difference until I watched the weigh-in. Oscar looked like he had come out of a POW camp recently. No muscle tone except for the abs.

Pacquaio is one of the best in recent generations of fighters.

Manny is THE man ... the fight was a thing of beauty.

There had to be an ugly side, however, and it occurred per-fight.

Compare the quite moving singing of the Philippine national anthem by a beautiful, traditionally dressed Filipina, to the travesty of the American anthem delivered by what appeared to be some crack ‘ho’.

And, as Oscar was born in the US and is an American citizen, what was with the Mexican anthem being presented?
It was all so silly that I could not begin to explain it to the Indonesians with whom I watched the fight in Jakarta.
