Bill OReillys just plain over-worked, and cant keep doing radio.
Yes, its official, final, confirmed, and you-wont-have-Bill-to-kick-around-any-more for-sure. That leaves a hole in the daytime schedule for Westwood One, whose then-CEO Joel Hollander convinced the Fox News Channel personality to host a daily Radio Factor starting in May 2002. Now the New York Daily News has Bill saying hell be giving up his daily radio gig in the first quarter of next year. The affiliate count of 430 stations looks very impressive, and Hollander said it was the biggest coordinated launch of a talkshow ever back in 02. But some of those clearances werent on the top-rated or even core-metro stations, and thats the same problem anybody new has to battle in talk radio Rush and Hannity and a few other talkers have had key dayparts sewn up for years. For OReilly, shelving Radio Factor is a necessity, given the 60-65 hours a week hes putting in now, between Fox, radio and his newspaper column and other work. He says I just cant keep doing that.
New Yorks WOR (710) didnt wait for Bill OReilly to officially leave radio.
Their new daytime lineup starting January 5 imports Glenn Beck, 9-11am, and Lou Dobbs, 2-4pm. It also drops Dennis Miller along with Bill OReilly. And in one of the most significant changes for a station that used to make a lot of revenue from this particular specialty, it will no longer serve up a midday program devoted to cooking and dining. That jobs been handled over the years by folks like Rocco DiSpirito, Arthur Schwartz and (currently) Mike Colameco, who hosts the 11am-noon Food Talk. The new lineup also gives its WOR-syndicated Dr. Joy Browne a brief daytime appearance, so shell be working a split shift - 1-2pm, then 9-11pm, as part of the late-evening Doc Block with Dr. Ronald Hoffman.
Heres the WOR roster for 2009 The WOR Morning News, 5-5:30am. John Gambling, 5:30-9am. Glenn Beck, 9 -11am (a live clearance). Joan Hamburg, 11am-1pm (currently 9-11am). Dr. Joy Browne, 1-2pm. Lou Dobbs, 2-4pm (clearing live). The local Steve Malzberg, 4-6pm. Michael Savage, 6-9pm. Dr. Joy Browne, 9-11pm. Dr. Ronald Hoffman, 11pm-midnight. And the irrepressible Joey Reynolds, still one of the few live overnight syndicated talkshows, doing the third-shift midnight-5am slot.
Bring back Bob Grant!
Here’s a national spot for Tammy Bruce!
He’s 60 kilocycles up the dial, back on 770 WABC.
Tammy Bruce? No way. I can’t stand her anymore since a few FReepers filled me in on her militant pro-abortion activities. You can be pro-choice and be a Republican. I have no problem with that. But when you start escorting women into clinics and trashing pro-lifers that’s where we part ways.
Bring back Lord Edward Fitzgerald!
No, Grant was dumped recently by WABC for Laura Ingraham
12:00PM 3:00PM Rush Limbaugh
3:00PM 6:00PM Sean Hannity
6:00PM 8:00PM Mark Levin
8:00PM 10:00PM Laura Ingraham
10:00PM 12:00AM Curtis Sliwa
Larry Elder.
Actually Grant was dumped so they could find an evening slot for Sliwa.
They pushed Laura up two hours. (And cut an hour out of her show...much to my chagrin.)
Good riddance to Bill the Blowhard!
Or rather BOR realizes that he CANNOT compete with EL Rushbo.
