What Avery said was childish, but worthy of suspension? The NHL is turning into a girls school.

The owner of the Dallas Stars said yesterday that the team would have suspended him if the NHL hadn't.

Before anyone complains that this penalty is overly harsh, it's worth noting that this guy has been a pain in the @ss for as long as he's played in the NHL, and has worn out his welcome with every team on which he's played. He was the best player for the Rangers in the playoffs last year, and yet they didn't even extend him a contract offer when the season ended. He's been involved in some bizarre on-ice incidents over the years, too . . . including allegations of racial epithets, etc. In one particularly ugly incident that got him run out of Los Angeles a couple of years ago, he nearly got his @ss kicked by a black opponent (Georges Laracque of Edmonton) and a black teammate (Anson Carter) in the players' parking lot after a game.

On top of all that, there's every indication that the guy is a "switch hitter," if not an outright "lefty hitter."

Do a Google search on a combination of terms like "Sean Avery," "nail polish," "Vogue magazine," "cross-dressing," etc. for all the bizarre details.
