The Doors star Jim Morrison's father has died, aged 89.
Rear Admiral George Morrison died of natural causes on 17 November.
A veteran of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Morrison was largely disowned by his rock star son, who insisted his parents were dead in early interviews.
The feeling was mutual - the seaman rarely discussed his son as he rose up the ranks.
In 1990, Morrison visited his son's grave in Paris, France and had a plaque installed.
Shortly after the Morrisons moved to Coronado, California in 2002, the admiral's wife died, and reports suggest he has been in declining health ever since.
Rear Admiral Morrison's private memorial service was held last Wednesday at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
I don’t know that he died from the needle or even was reported to use intravenous drugs. Morrison was an alcoholic and he took pills and psychedelics.
Wouldn’t heroin have helped him to keep his weight down?
He was in the ground before the public knew. How much of an investigation was there into his death?
His son was an embarrassment compared to what he did.
I used to be Victor Borge’s barber.
>>>Jims wifes family for decades. Odd that his own parents dont get a claim<<<<<<
She died a couple years after him, and the two families finally reached a private financial settlement.
RIP, Admiral.
I hadn’t heard that. Her father has limited some of the Doors’ material that has come to market and has blocked the release of the feature movie that Jim Morrison made. The film’s director had to negotiate with Jim’s wife’s father, who was present at the the screening.
A bootleg still managed to get out.
The exact compounds and route of administration are interesting details but the end result was that his body surrendered to substance abuse.
Heroin OD, wasn't it?
Jim had good genes which tolerated lost of abuse. But he pushed it too far
I go to church with Chuck Norris and work with a Tim Taylor.
Oh, and when I was in high school I went on a summer leadership retreat thing (turned out to be total BS) and my roommate was Woodrow Wilson. Not even joking.
One of a bunch of similar results from Googling “Morrison Courson ownership Doors”
http://www.idobi.com/news/2003/04/28/morrison-estate-sues-surviving-doors/
“The family filed the suit in conjunction with the parents of Pamela Courson, Morrisons late common-law wife, since both the Morrisons and the Coursons share a 25 percent ownership stake in the Doors partnership. Manzarek and Krieger and ex-Doors drummer John Densmore each own a quarter as well.”
No one here gets out alive bump.
My girlfriend went to law school with a guy named Earl Campbell.
>>>>Heroin OD, wasn’t it? <<<<<
Yep.
I did what I could to honor his father’s service. I did add military to the topics and veteran to the keywords.
And yes his son was an ingrate.

I worked with an Elizabeth Taylor and at the same time we interviewed someone to work with her named Richard Burton. I wanted to hire the guy regardless of his qualifications just so they both would work together. Then my plan was to have them get married and divorced a few times...
