What Is The Opinion of General James Jones?

Posted on 12/02/2008 4:53:01 AM PST by 7thson

Got a question here but I want to be careful on how I phrase it. Let me come off and say I do not want to disrespect General James Jones. I have the utmost respect for Marines. They do things and put up with stuff a lot of can't. So here goes.

I consider Obama a leftist, Marxist thug. A street punk who conned his way into the Presidency with massive help by a compliant media. You can look at his past and see that he has never accomplished anything of merit in his life.

General Jones - from what little I know of him - is an outstanding Marine. He has put his life on the line many times and has served his country with honor and courage.

Now my question. Why would someone of General Jones stature agree to work in the administration of a person such as Obama? Obama has stood for everything General Jones stands against.

Would you rather have General Jones providing National Security advice and council to Obama or Bill Ayers?

...perhaps it's General Jones who appeals to Obambi. Maybe statements in the past, or policy he fought for ,rather the other way around.

Simple: To serve his country. To a true patriot, Country comes first.

Probably because he loves his country and wants to see the best for it. Look at General McCaffery. I think he’s an honorable man and yet he served in the Clinton white house. For many in the military, service is not a means to acquiring power and changing the country. Service is actually serving one’s country.

It seems to me that I recall General Jones giving bubba a pass on
some travesty ... there were so many hard to remember which one.
In any case there was comment on it here at FR at the time.

Newt Gingrich doesn’t have a problem with Jones. Jones was the first Marine general to be SACEUR.

For me, the fact that he is associated with obama and his ilk is enough.

He played basketball at Georgetown. My guess Obama wanted a “eurocentrist” national security team. My guess is that he kept Gates at Defense and he's waiting for April of 2010 when he can appoint Wesley Clark SecDef.

I doubt he was in a position to give his Commander in Chief a pass on his many travesties.

“Would you rather have General Jones providing National Security advice and council to Obama or Bill Ayers?”

Don’t know. We are just going to have to wait and see where Jones stands on National Security. He has obviously served our country with honor and bravery up to now. BUT, the past is not ALWAYS a predictor of the future...

For the good of the country. Would you have preferred an Ivy league academic?

He also was appointed by Bush and and was asked to join State by rice.

And has carried out several post-retirement missions for GWB, assessing the security forces in Iraq and most recently the futile task of training the palestinian security forces.

Maybe. I don’t know much about Jones’ position on global security matters, and I’m sure plenty of USMC FReepers will chime in with their opinions of him. Are there better choices out there to be the National Security Advisor to the boy wonder Empty Suit in Chief? Maybe. Are there much worse choices? Definitely.

Maybe Jones is a true patriot who sees himself and the advice he can give as a bulwark between a naive weak President and his ignorant, manipulative self serving and communistic cohorts and advisors

Jones did not look happy yesterday to be up on stage with that crowd of pathological losers posturing as leaders

That doesn't comfort me much, frankly.

Stars flow from the office of the President of the United States. For anyone that believes that there are no politics in the ranks of Generals, I would advise you to look at the past and re-evaluate your thinking. McCaffery worked for Clinton because he is a democrat. Remember Wes Clark? Those folks were made and promoted by democrats. Some slip through although most support one party. Also think of the ones that got in trouble, most notable were MacArthur and Singlaub. They criticized sitting presidents and were removed from their commands, kind of like Wes Clark and NATO, heh..heh.
