Population growth rate has declined steadily for 45 years. It's now at 1.2%, down from 2.2% in 1962. IOW, we will soon reach a plateau, if present trends continue, and then the population will start to decline.

A good many countries are already in the first stages of a major drop in population.

Dear Daryl. You need to get away from the land of tofu. Buy a remote cabin, heat with wood you cut and split, feed yourself by hunting and gathering, including fish, if you have chosen well.

Yes, your hands will get rough, you will go to sleep sore and tired and waken hungry. A few months of this and you will start to understand. The only time you will waken in a sweat is when you are hot or sick. There will be no television blaring the evils of whatever in your ear, in fact you won't have much time for that if you are trying to put up enough food for winter. I reccommend reading accounts of survival in the wild, no matter what you might think of their methods, and obtaining a few books such as old boy scout manuals, and a military field manual on survival or two for reference. A bible might prove good reading, too.

Do take something to deter predators, or you will find out more about the food chain than you really wanted to know. It will also help defend your garden and provide (in extremis) food. Good Luck in this. After about a year, you should be well versed at survival, come what may, and have a far better perspective on the majority of modern issues you find so troubling now.
