“Career Fair Focuses on Space Industry”

SNIPPET: “College students and transitioning military interested in exciting careers in the space industry can get tips from someone with real space experience.

It’s happening at the Space Foundation’s Space Career Fair on Thursday, April 2, at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The first 300 job seekers to register and check-in will also attend a networking lunch featuring Anousheh Ansari, space ambassador and first female private space explorer.

The Space Career Fair, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on April 2, is part of the Space Foundation’s 25th National Space Symposium, which runs March 30 - April 2, at The Broadmoor.

The Space Career Fair features presentations about space employment and provides opportunities for attendees to hand out resumes and meet with more than 20 extraordinary space-age employers.

The outlook for landing a well-paid professional position in space and aeronautics is stronger than most other career fields - good news for job seekers in this difficult economy.

Open to college students and transitioning military with degrees or experience in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or business administration, the Space Career Fair is the leading source of information regarding current and future career opportunities, industry trends, and upcoming space-related workforce needs.

To register or find out more about the Space Career Fair, visit www.SpaceCareerFair.org.

The registration fee of $20 covers the event and - for the first 300 to register and check in - the networking session with Ansari.

The deadline for online registration is Friday, March 27.

Registration will also be available onsite the day of the Space Career Fair, starting at 7:30 a.m.

All attendees, including those who have pre-registered, must present a student or military ID to be admitted.”

SNIPPET: “GALVESTON — Just months after laying off thousands of people, the University of Texas Medical Branch has rehired more than 500 employees and plans to hire hundreds more, raising hopes but also questions about whether the institution was too hasty in cutting jobs after Hurricane Ike badly damaged its campus.”
