VINELAND, N.J. - November 21, 2008 - (WPVI) -- She was an adult film star who went by the name Crystal Gunns. But she reportedly says that's part of her past.
She now an aid at D'Ippolito Elementary in Vineland, New Jersey, and that has some parents furious.
"I understand it's her personal life, but I don't feel someone with that background should be working with young children at all," said preschool teacher Maria Martin.
Crystal Gunns is apparently retired. She's now Louisa Tuck, a cafeteria and playground aide at D'Ippolito Elementary.
They were stunned.
A background check turned up nothing. They wanted to take action, but lawyers advised them not to. Tuck hadn't done anything illegal.
Some parents agree.
"It's in her past. We all do things in our past. And as long as she's not interfering with any kids, I don't see any problem with it," said Raul Cordova of Vineland, N.J.
Action News was unable to reach Tuck. She also works at the local YMCA. A co-worker described her as a great person.
In a interview with a local newspaper, Tuck defended her ability to work around children despite her past career.

The school superintendent says the district is investigating all of it's options to see what sort of recourse it has.

You're the one who brought up child molestation, which I believe, in addition to being immoral, just happens to be illegal -
By your line of reasoning any immoral act, including someone who molested children in the past but then renounces such an act, should then be allowed to be near children.
- and equated it to "any immoral act." So then someone who got drunk once... Or someone who lied - even one time, should never be allowed near children. Tell me, exactly what level of immorality will you allow before you banish someone. And exactly whos definition of morality will you use. Does eating meat on a Friday disqualify one, or eating pork, or mixing meat and dairy in the same meal, or drinking a cup of coffee? Hey, these are immoral acts, according to certain religions. Interestingly enough, with only one exception, the other religions don't find the others to be the least bit immoral.
There are many among them who would say that Christian Conservative heterosexuals shouldn't be allowed around children because of their world views.
Oh really? Then it shouldn't be a problem for you to give the names of those who have publicly made such statements and cite their comments with sources.
Feel free to find as many as you like, they post constantly on the daily kos and du. And as I stated, these are the people who helped get obama elected, and they're going to try to push him to the left, and push the country into a "secular social democracy."

Therefore, you would favor preventing people who've had abortions from working with children (that eliminates about 25% of the female population)? Let's also prevent people who used to smoke pot from working with children (that eliminates some 60% of the population). Let's also prevent people who've cheated on their taxes, told a lie, committed adultery and stolen something in the past from working in cafeterias where our children eat.
Wow! The only people left are you and me. I've got a job, so good luck serving all those meals....
I think you'll find that it's 0, Zero, big goose egg dude. Seems to me that the repentant sinner is a FAR better choice to be among students than the unknown teachers college graduate...
Of course, we can't let a little fact like that get in the way of some self righteous indignation now...
Ok. Send your kid to a school with a known whore and slut. Better yet pay attention to what you do with your kids. Better yet, dude, don’t have kids.
you’ve got an acerbic nature but you’re an interesting poster...I’ll give you that and I share your pro-life views
and calling Obama boy hitler on another thread was sweet
been off murdering deer, sorry to be late in response
maybe we can be civil in the future..who knows?
you can’t be this green...August 2008
Man, I'm glad I don't shun logic or numbers.
BTW, the school that fired her is probably going to get it's ass handed to them in a lawsuit because it's not illegal to have worked in that profession and last I heard you couldn't dump someone post hiring based upon the subjective morality of something they did in the past.
A criminal record would have been another thing altogether though by some of the arguements on this thread you'd think she was a convicted child molester.
