The public education system, infiltrated by communists & sympathizers,
has succeeded in redefining “freedom” in most of those that have passed through its doors.
Freedom WAS defined as the freedom TO do whatever without the interference of government. This led to reward for achievement and punishment for sloth.
Freedom NOW is defined as freedom FROM - freedom from want, need, etc, and of course, always with a hidden expense.
Freedom TO has hidden benefits and visible costs (wealth disparity and poverty of the unambitious) - something politicians avoid like the plague.
Freedom FROM has highly visible benefits, and most importantly, hidden costs.
