Series Finale next week on FX
His "History of the American People" isn't quite as good. That's party why I wrote "Patriot's History."
If you like historical fiction, try Caleb Carr, "The Alienist" or Newt Gingrich's "Gettysburg."
I love Modern Times!
I saw him interviewed on Fox once, good interview.
I’ll have to get your book and the other books you mentioned.
Newt writes fiction?
Who knew!
Ed
His new "Pearl Harbor" trilogy is not so good. Perhaps because I already had my own counter-factual book, to be out (I hope) this week, "Halsey's Bluff," in which the Japanese win the Battle of Midway, I didn't find them believable.
Also, if you want a lot of history woven in, without it dominating the story line, anything by Preston and Childs is great.
Oh, wow...Halsey losing Midway?! I’m not sure I’d want to live in a world where the Axis powers had won!
Unless you think we still would have pulled it out?
Ed
P.S. Thanks for the recommendations on Preston and Childs!
Realize that Halsey didn’t fight in the real Battle of Midway-—that was Spruance-—so that’s a change right there. Second, the loss at Midway is just the start . . . .
Gotta start at ep 1 or you will wonder what the hell is going on.
