Kemah Boardwalk partially reopens. The Boardwalk Bullet is up and running! Check it out!
One of Kemah's greatest assets is its location on Galveston Bay. The Bay and Kemah waterfront draw visitors to Kemah from throughout the world. Hurricane Ikes storm surge caused roughly $450 million in damage to Kemah homes, businesses and city infrastructure, this does not include the Kemah Boardwalk or Marina. Many restaurants and business have already re-opened and the Boardwalk is opening a few restaurants at a time should be in full swing well before spring break "Better than ever"!

My wife and I honeymooned at South Shore Harbor Hotel in Kemah ... any word on whether it survived?

It was built in what locals called the Hurricane Hole where a jut of land protected it from the wind and yes it did!

The Boardwalk Bullet is a nasty roller coaster. Very rough ride and if you are tall, a killer on the knees. First roller coaster I wanted to end well before it was over, and it isn’t that long of a ride.

    Howdy Neighbor.
I'm in Seabrook, west of 146. We managed just fine.
Not so for those on the east side of the highway.
Boy, nothing is happening on Seafood Row across from the Boardwalk.
I guess they'll level Papadeaux's, it looks bad.
I miss Roses! ...where ya getting your fresh shrimp?
I went down to Hillman's last week, open but short supply.

Glad to hear it. Its a great hotel. She and I celebrate our anniversary there every few years, and I was hoping it wasn’t flattened.

The waterfront stores will be closed for some time. Aside from most of them having to completely rebuild, the two that remain are without utilities (electric, sewage, etc) and will not be able to reopen until that is restored. However, Captain Henry's (Kemah) is reopened by the end of this week and I believe that Hillman’s and Gastian’s are open.

I just read where Tillman Fertitta is in big time debt and is trying to sell off his Landry Restaurants chain, or his shares.
I'm sure Ike didn't help matters.
Glad to see things slowly getting back to normal.

I checkout Hillmans but then went down and patronized Gastians for the 1st time.
Made a fine gumbo for Jimmie Johnson's Nascar Championship 3-Peat last Sunday!
