It was built in what locals called the Hurricane Hole where a jut of land protected it from the wind and yes it did!

Glad to hear it. Its a great hotel. She and I celebrate our anniversary there every few years, and I was hoping it wasn’t flattened.

Back when I was an active boater in the area, it was called the Clay Pit. The pit was made by removal of clay for a brick factory up the bay.

Yes it has always, my lifetime any way, has been a sanctuary for the Galveston Bay boats... I have many memories and stories about the cove.

BTW, I cry when I see the development around it now...
