The new Star Trek film will not be released until next year, but the hype has already begun. The Star Trek fan base is well-known for its passion and loyalty, and the J.J. Abrams helmed reboot of the franchise has high hopes attached to it. For some lucky filmgoers this past weekend, the first glimpses of Abrams' creation were seen. In select theaters showing the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace, a preview for Star Trek was attached. It did not disappoint. The trailer has not been officially released to the internet yet, but there is a bootleg of the trailer going around right now

Explosions and space battles and sex and monsters and an angry Spock! Could be fun.

Hmm... looks like it might be worth hauling myself out to the mall to see it. Still don't know how I feel about a young crew, tho I know I don't want to see Nimoy and Shatner trying to pretend they're still in their 30s. The crew is young. Give this some thought. The young man who plays Kirk is my cousin several times removed. His father is my age/generation, so Kirk is being played by someone the age of my children.
I will go to the mall to see it, something I do for only a few films.

Looks like crap on a stick to me.
Pretty special effects, but it ain’t Star Trek.

The early star fleet ships were buckets of bolts that were constantly falling apart and needed engineers like Scotty to keep them together. If the trailers are any indication, they are not being true to the Roddenberry vision.

Funny!
I used to go to ST conventions and see blooper reels. This was waay before VHS. I think you can buy them now, but there was something wonderful about sitting in a room full of fans and watching ‘secret’ footage.

I am totally getting a phaser jones, and preparing to get my popcorn freak on. I will give Mr. JJ once chance. If he fails, I will destroy his ship, and burn his homeworld to a cinder.
